I do not have a problem with texting in itself, but I really dislike conversing in text. It's like a perpetual conversation that can only end awkwardly once it begins. To be more specific, I don't mind communicating over the internets because I can walk away anytime I like, but I need to have my phone on most of the day (so it will bug me when I am not in the mood to talk). Anybody here have similar feelings?

I used to really dislike phone conversations too, but I've slowly gotten used to them. Actually, it's sometimes easier to talk over the phone than in person because I don't have to worry about body language.

So, what do you all prefer: Texting, Calling, or Death?

I don't mind texts just to ask someone a simple question or to remind them of something but I prefer calling for long conversations. Especially on my old phone because it kind of hard to text on.

I prefer neither, but if I *must* choose one over the other... calling. Texting pisses me off.

I prefer texting. I don't like it much but I really dislike talking on the phone unless it's someone I know very well.

I defiantly prefer texting to calling. I can do other stuff while I text & reply at my convenience. I don't want to do anything else while texting with a girl thou & I am looking for a girl to text with if any here are interested  (starts praying)

I can't stand talking on the phone. I have definitely offended several people with my dislike of phones, because I never make/answer phone calls. Either than or someone calls me who I think could only be calling me for an emergency, and then it's, "What do you need? ... You called me just to talk? Couldn't you have emailed me or something?". I prefer texting for sure.

I'm not even sure if my ancient phone has texting capabilities. Let me look.... Nope, no keyboard. Actually, I see no need for another way to be incommunicative.

Doesn't much matter to me. Calling feels more.... natural to me but texting is convenient.

It doesn't much matter though as my cell phone has been inactive for about two years now.

I hate talking on the phone. I've got a pretty monotone voice, and while I don't really care, other people are undoubtedly bothered by it.

I personally have no use for texting. I find it to be a very shallow and impersonal means of communication.
If somebody sends me a text, I will call them back. (and tell them not to text me)

The only thing worse than figuring out when its your time to talk in a room full of people face to face... is figuring out when its your time to talk on the dang phone... I always end up either talking over the other person or waiting forever for my turn... and then when they go quiet I have nothing to add and often the discussion isn't actually over.

talking on the phone is horrible.

However, I don't text either (even though I have a smart phone with qwerty keyboard) the reason: I have no idea what-so-ever how people manage to get each other's phone numbers. Apparently I missed that lesson growing up and I am really not worried about learning it now so I never really bothered.

Generally if I have someone's phone number its not someone I talk privately with, and I only have it because of a need for one-time communication.

so I'll say that I would rather text, even though I don't...

I prefer calling to texting, but I don't have a cell phone. Texting drives me insane half of the time it's gibberish, and poorly written as well. The only exception I know of is my High School English teacher who texts to everyone with no mistakes in it. 8O

If I must use a phone, calling.

I can never seem to get my full point across when I'm texting, it seems better when I'm calling but then again, it depends.
Overall, I prefer calling (although I do wish it was cheaper though). :(
