I just signed up today and noticed that in the profile you can have it say Friends and now Family. How do you add a family member so that it shows up on left side?

If you pass the mouse over the left side where it's written "Family" there will a little "pencil" with the options to "Edit family, friends list", etc. Just click on the pencil and you'll be able to do it. :)

I'll try. :)

Ok, so first you have to click to see your prophile (click on your name, which is on the left or at the top of the page).

Then you'll see some of your friends shown on the left of the page. If you pass the mouse over them, you'll see that it appears this small pencil on the right of where it's written "Friends (number)".

Then just click on the pencil and you'll se a page where you can edit your friends and add family members. I don't know if it's the same there, but for me there's this sequence:

- Relationship status

- Add a family member

If you see this "Add a family member", just click on it and then it's just adding and choosing if it's a cousin, brother, etc.

I don't know if I described it clear enough. :?

Good! :)

I think it asks the e-mail address because the person you added has to confirm it. Or it's just to send the invitation to Facebook, in case they aren't there. But they're supposed to be shown at your family list there.

My cousin must have accepted because her name is in blue. My aunt and uncle's names are in black.
I get this messages when I added my aunt and uncle. They haven't accepted my friend request yet...

Enter an email for (name) (name) will receive an invitation to become your friend on Facebook and confirm your Family Request.

Yes, so this is right. Probably they will accept it when they see and then their names will also be shown there (in blue). :)

In case they don't have a Facebook, their names will remain in black in your Family list, until they create an account and confirm your "Family request".

what is the lightening bolt mean when you go to someone's profile where it says Friend request sent? when you hover over Friend Request send, I see some lightening bolt icons.

That lightening bolt means that the person hasn't seen and therefore hasn't accepted yet your request. It will disappear when they accept it. :)

And your aunt and uncle will receive an invitation to create a Facebook account, and then automatically become your friends there and being shown as your family.

Oh, so it will disappear when they accept your request. And they will receive a note to confirm if you are their niece. :)
