I've always loved this. Unfortunately, global warming has made snowy Decembers an increasing rarity in Chicago, so I don't get to make so many as I used to...

I haven't made a snowman (or snow woman) in ages. It's so hard rolling up the snowballs and then trying to stack them on top of each other. They must have weighed a hundred pounds each, and the snow would often crumble or split in half if I managed to get one on top of the other.

A couple of years ago, however, I did make a snow bunny clinging to a telephone pole outside my apartment. Maybe this year I'll make snow babies instead. :)

We don't have much opportunity for making snowmen in Queensland.
I've made a few mudmen.

I do! I made a snow Dalek and a snow adipose once too :D

Now I'm thinking about "The Snowmen" episode of Doctor Who, however...perhaps my favorite of the Christmas specials :)

You have to use the right kind of snow. Powdery snow of a really cold day has no cohesion and wont work. Its actually best when the temp is a little above freezing.

Don't you have snow in July or August?

I've never particularly liked making snowmen. It's not that easy to do. And I never had much patience with such things.

But I think snowmen are very cute! I have several snowman figurines and I like seeing 'real' snowmen, I just don't care to build them myself.
