Couldn't you ask for a flyer if you wanted one? If you didn't want one, but were upset you didn't get the offer, then maybe try to at least think you didn't have to waste 2 seconds of your time to say "Nah thanks".
I can see what you mean though about feeling left out / discriminated. Sometimes it's just nice to have the invitation and the choice. I have to agree with Tallyman though, it's all about the demographics and the target audience. They can't ask everyone. I had to hand them out before for my Uncle's shop, and the amount of people that I had to miss out was a lot, due to having to make quick assumptions about whether they'd take any notice, or just drop the flyer on the floor. It's just a waste then, of course. Also, there were quite a few rude people, no matter how polite and passive I was.
Personally I don't like being offered flyers most of the time (unless it's actually worthwhile to me, but that's a rarity). I find it awkward and I try not to come across as rude (unless they shove it right in my face then I don't care how I come across), but it's hard not to act rude in situations like that.
