Is there anyone who shares with me a fascination with small secluded places no one knows about? I mean, those really very small ones and very, very secluded and well hidden from others who may even not know about their existence, like some hidden underground tunnels (chambers in pyramids, for example, where pharaos are buried), towers, in which one could get imprisoned for life to spend there, in this limited area their entire life, etc. I mean, it sounds so fascinating that one small place can be a place of living of a person who never goes outside :D Or Rapa Nui - such a small island, so far from any other lands. Or, in the Thorgal comics, there was that place where three sisters lived far from others but couldn't go out, for if they did, they'd die, as time didn't pass there like in the outside world, so when one of them come out, she become an old lady who died of an old age very soon. Or that hidden town of Rockendrool Heaven from one of the short stories by King, which couldn't be escaped by you, once you entered it. I generally really very like such a motive of place, where you can go but you can't leave it and where people share some secret hidden from those outside. Like - in one of the Sliders episodes there was such a town, where people didn't get old, as they consumed the secretions (?) of a huge worm, which was the guardian of the town - you couldn't leave but you were forever young. Do you like such things, too?

I like places that are isolated or hidden from view. I especially like places where you could be surrounded by people and still be invisible. I've never really thought about places in which people couldn't leave.

There's this clearing in the ravine near where I live. There are paths all through the ravine but if you go off the path in a certain spot and into the bush you'll find a clearing. There's a visual wall of bush, branches, and trees surrounding the clearing and just outside of that wall is a path. You could just sit in there listening to the people and they wouldn't even know you're there.

I went there one day and people had decided to camp there for a few days just for fun. I guess they wanted to camp in the ravine and still have some privacy. The tents were empty the first time I went there but when I came back I actually got to talk to them.

They weren't homeless. They were just camping for a few days and then they were gone.

The spot had probably been used at some point by a homeless person who didn't want to get robbed in his/her sleep. It's out of view so it would offer some protection. The evidence for that is a stick shelter in the clearing. The campers had their own tents but a homeless person might not have the same luxuries.

It's a pretty nice spot to feel invisible too.

The place where I work used to have a nuns' cloister. I still feel like an intruder when I pass through it even though the nuns moved out years ago.

I've heard that there's an abandoned mine shaft at the bottom of Fort Mountin. I'm not sure of its exact location, but it would be fun to explore it when I do find out.

I don't know any such place, but the idea fascinates me.

I could say I do, but I think what I really like are places that are secluded not because they are hidden, but because they are forgotten / ignored.

My favorite example is the far end of a green space in the neighborhood I lived in from ages 1-7. I go back there sometimes wanting to see just that spot, even though our old house is there too. All it was, was a patch of grass that extended from the end of the street to behind some people's back fences. It was triangular and surrounded on two sides by cinder-block walls, and the 3rd side by a cement drainage ditch. There was a little footbridge crossing the ditch onto a concrete footpath that extended into the grass.

There was really nothing down there, and I loved it just because it was empty / desolate / forgotten. I think I liked it because it was a lonely place that someone had obviously put some thought into building, but never found a real use for. I remember seeing it for the first time when I was just old enough to walk, and I still have that memory of staring down the path to the end corner between the walls, looking at the emptiness in the golden late afternoon sun.

I thought it was profoundly beautiful, and I still feel that way to this day, and I don't know why.

I love the idea of them, even more so if there's some forgotten history attached to it.

I like my creature comforts, electricity, air conditioning, etc. too much to ever remotely consider living in a place that was too isolated. And I hate bugs, especially mosquitoes, since I'm allergic to them but despite that fact seem to attract them from all corners of the globe.

So maybe if it were in a place up north that stayed cool but still had electricity and internet so I could work on my projects, and I could still receive mail to get amazon.com deliveries like art supplies and other things I like, then yeah that would be really nice.

when I go through the woods I go where others don't. I purposely go through pricklier bushes and thorny bushes to get to a secluded area and soak in all the beauty

Living somewhere remote would be awesome.

I tend to seek out remote places, especially on video games. We have an area on our property where they used to strip mine for coal and there is a cliff about 200 ft up from which you can see for miles, it is very nice in autumn and goats are about the only thing that live up there. I don't go anymore due to rock-slides and a big crack that is in the stone now, but I loved visiting there when I was younger. The areas around it were chock-full of fossils and a few iron ore deposits, though I mostly found some ferns and water plants, I found a cycad type plant too. The stone was brittle like clay-stone or slate, but the fossils seemed to be from the carboniferous era.

On a forum full of aspies, would who doesn't like secluded places be a more pressing question?

I think we can safely assume everyone here does until proven otherwise.

I have been looking for a place on the Earth's surface where no humans have ever been to throughout the entire history and pre-history of humanity.

Where is it?

i love secluded places. i have a recurring dream about living in a hidden one-room flat/apartment where the only entrance is through a back alley, up a fire escape, over a balcony wall, and through a window. in my dream i am sitting on a mattress on the floor, looking through the window at the sky with sunbeams lighting up the room. nobody can see me because the flat is so well-hidden.

I guarantee you, it's somewhere in Labrador, Canada.
