This is a picture of my house (okay, my mom's really). Here in Indiana, we got it built for about $360,000 and it is approximately 5,280 square feet and has about a half acre of land. How much would this house cost where you live and what are your opinions on my house? Thanks!

Oh, and I'll post pictures of some of the rooms, too, soon!

Well, here in the Scottsdale market houses go for $200 per square foot and up ! ! Depending on where you live in the city, it can run over $300 per square foot ! ! So that's umm, just a second, it's slightly over a cool mill. The half acre would add considerably to that, so maybe a mill and a quarter.

I would have to say that in Rochester MN, a house such as that would probably go for $400k - $500k. It looks too boxy for me however.

Here are the pictures of some of the rooms that I promised! Not all the rooms are there, though. It's missing the basement, the laundry room, my bathroom, the powder room, my mom's room, and my three bedrooms. But it's close enough!

This sort of house does not exist where I live. Not with land. Best estimate, in the nearest location, about $1.4 million.

$360,000? That's about what my house is worth. For an approximation, look at your picture and consider the door and the window next to it and the two above it. That's about it.
About 750 sq ft. With about 300 sq ft of garden.

I really like your house. Does your Mum want to adopt me? I am 49 and fully house-trained.

It probably would be around $250,000 in Houston, maybe less in Boise.

lol She thinks one seventeen-year-old and soon-to-be seven pets are too much already! Plus, I don't think she'll adopt someone that's four years older than her.

Kinda hard to say for around here. It's really dependent on the sub-area, and also how close to the water you are.
In the Uplands or Oak Bay area, you'd be looking at about 5-8 million for the house alone. Not sure on the land.
In Esquimalt, you'd be looking at about a million, easily. Buddy of mine has a 4BR/2Ba 2-story place with a deck and hot tub/sauna that's about 3 blocks from the water and he recently had it appraised at about $365,000, and I'm pretty sure it's only got 1k-2k sq ft.
Further up the island, the price will drop. The same house in, say, Duncan or Sooke would cost you about half of what it'd be in Victoria.

I have no idea what it would cost here but I keep drooling over the pics - congrats on a terrific house! outside and inside. :D especially the Great Room and the Stairs and the Bridge and the Master Bathroom ... Why isn't this house in magazines?

Yep, like Alex said, that house in the Northern Virginia area would be over a million. About 100 miles to the south in Richmond, it would probably sell for around the same, maybe a little more, depending on how "loaded" with features it is, and how much land it's on. You can also add about another $100,000 to the selling price if it's in one of those socialist planned comunities too. Is it brick all the way around, or just a brick front? Full brick homes come at a premium, but it's worth it!

It's a pretty typical, average looking house for around here. 9-window colonials are VERY common in Virginia. For me, it's a bit too big, although I do like the big garage...plenty of space to work on things and take stuff apart! I like open floor plans too versus compartmentalized homes divided into lots of rooms.... That big stairway with the bridge is spectacular! I also gotta have lots of storage for my obsession...audiovisual equipment! New homes like that typically have lots of storage. I like big windows too, like the ones in your great room to bring the outside in!

For me, I typically like more modern looking homes, versus the more traditional look of that one. I imagine this comes from growing up and living around that style for so long and seeing so much of it. I remember as a child going into an uncommon "modern" building or home and gazing trancelike at architectural elements like light fixtures, stairways, and such. My mother would hafta pull me by the arm to get me going again, and then I'd wander off back to where I saw the interesting feature! To this day, I still love "space-age" buildings and mid-century modern architecture.

This is actually a really nice house for our area. The average house price here in Indianapolis is about $153,000 and that's with nothing nice what so ever and only about 2,300 square feet and a small yard. Our yard is loaded with a nature preserve, including tons and tons of trees, two lakes, and a creek. We also get deer, owls, bats, toads, and opossums. Also, the house is sort of brick-wrapped. It goes halfway up all the other sides and above that is just vinyl siding. You don't typically see complete brick wrap houses here until you reach about half a million. Even then, you don't always see it. Also, my mom and I are planning on adding a bunch of nice features to our house. We want to replace the Corian countertops with granite, we want to replace the white bridge and stair spindles with wrought iron ones, we want to put wains coating and crown molding throughout the entire house, we are planning on finishing the basement and adding a sauna and a home theater in it, we want to put coins on the side of the house, we want to add a balcony above the front door, we want to install a sprinkler system, and we're wanting to replace our screened-in porch with a sunroom. It's going to be extremely nice once we're done with it. I wonder how much it would be worth then. Also, who wants to see pictures of my neighbors' houses? They're nice, too!
