One of my friends asked me yesterday "if a golden retriever was lying with its litter of puppies would the mother get aggressive if you started abusing its litter"

What do u think? Would the mother start barking and bite you?

A lot of animals get aggresive when something tries to hurt their young ones, I don't think that'd be very different with a dog.

I would if I was the retriever, that's for sure. There's a mother tiger in me as regards animal welfare.

I imagine they would be if you started hurting their children, though.

No. Unless they've been mistreated they tend to be very friendly. But even the friendliest dog can get very aggressive very quickly if she perceives a threat to her pups.
