Hey guys.

Got an interview with Park City HR in mid to late July for sealing into job position at the ski resort! Can't wait for this. Its a dream for me. So as part of the program, I will be doing ski job for entire season there. However, since my application for visa has it for 12 months. Which this means I be around the country and Hawaii! This is most fun and exciting stuff for a young guy who graduating this year :)

I never been outside of Australia before. I am preparing for US, as in bigger preparation. Looking all over the websites, pictures and videos about US. It seems VERY large version of Australia. US have mega cities everywhere, superb wide freeways, diverse culture and that etc! Most exciting part is seeing all the 'happenings' in the cities. Entertainment, sporting, culture and that. It seems HUGE compared to Australia.

So, my first trip will land at LA. It seem going to be huge experience for me. LAX as massive airport, LA as huge city with population nearing 17million of people. I will be staying in LA for one night before heading on road to Las Vegas and Salt Lake City! If not I should be flying instead, straight to Salt Lake City.

Things need to be ticked off my bucket list for US trip:
Visit major cities such as New York, LA, San Francisco, San Diego, Atlanta, Denver, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Miami, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Cincinnati etc.
Hiking in Yellowstone NP, Grand Canyon, Colorado Mountains.
Skiing in Utah, Colorado, Lake Tahoe Ca etc.
Visit Hawaiian Islands.
Attend to major sporting events such as NBA, college football, major league baseball.
Short visit to Canada to places such as Vancouver, Toronto, Baniff, Ottawa etc.

Hope you've saved up a lot of money if you actually think you can make it to all these places in a year. I don't know if you knew, but we've had a problem with gas prices for about 4 years now.

Don't go to Miami. It's a dump (Orlando is okay though). And Houston isn't very special; see Austin or San Antonio instead if you're in Texas.

Basketball, Baseball, and Football games are cool, but the cost of the food and ticket's is kind of a ripoff. Just be careful what you buy.

Park City is in Utah, right (I answered my own question now just re-reading your post)? If you like nature try hiking Mount Timpanogos and going into the cave. Southern Utah has beautiful rock formations, as well as the rest of the Grand Canyon area. Try floating in the Great Salt Lake!

I hate LAX. Traffic is terrible. The Ontario airport is far less congested but I don't know that they have intercontinental flights. Drive up to SLC! It's the best way to take in the southwestern desert landscape. The San Diego area is a different ballgame- it's so green and lush!

Make sure you make Yellowstone reservations about a year in advance, especially if you're going in the busy season over the summer. Otherwise you can still find some great national parks that aren't as famous.

I suggest that you take a road trip at some point to visit some of your destinations, and eat at some of the fun diners that dot the highways. The views on some of the highways are stunning. Maybe you would like taking HWY 1 down or up the CA coast. It goes all the way from the bottom of California to Canada.

Visit the Redwood Forests in California. Try the Olympia National Rainforest in Washington.

I'm from the West Coast so I don't know much about the other half from personal experience, but definitely visit the major cities there. People that I know love Boston. I enjoyed going through Central Park in NYC.

Hm... can't think of anything else now and I'm thirsty so I'm going to stop for now.

Why Miami is a dump?

My flights only go to LAX that is all. As part of program I have to go that way.

Anyone know what place that have a lot of 7-11's? Well cause I love them!

Haha, 7-11's specifically? Convenience stores are almost everywhere (7-11's included) unless you're going to a very small town or remote area. Now if you're looking for a cluster of 7-11's all in one spot, you're on your own.

Haha that awesome. I love 7-11 because of the slurpees. Don't have one up here in Townsville, so I get some in Brisbane, Gold Coast and back home in Northern NSW. Its quite nice hehe.

Why no one mentioned about how awesome SF and San Diego seems? Houston in pictures appears have nice skyline. Very neat skyline indeed!

Just so you know most americans have not been to all the major cities you listed. (chicago is awesome) I have been to 3 of the cities you mentioned.

If there is a team you like then I think it could be cheaper to go to a college football or basketball game then professional.

Your not going to Las Vegas!?! I understand if sensory wise you don't like it, I like blackjack, and let's just say I actually use strategy 8)

Miami is a dump indeed; don't go. Everything is in Spanish and the people are rude.

I live in Atlanta. I have lived here all of my life.
I still have yet to go to places like NYC, Washington D.C., etc.
A majority of Americans haven't been to all of those places... a large majority, I'd say.
Like the other people said.
The gas prices are really high so you really will need to have a lot saved up if you want to go to all those places in one year.

And I just read the part about going other places and pro sports events, etc.
You really need to have a lot saved up. I can't even begin to calculate the amount. :?

Gas prices is at worst here in Australia mate. NZ is the world worst spot.

Texas and California (oh yeas Colorado) as I knew they have higher Spanish population than Florida?

I am saving a lot money at the moment. However, I am getting paid for job at Park City anyways (including round off pensioner payment from Australian government while being over there). It seem so close to Grand Canyon and Salt Lake City (as well Las Vegas!).

Not sure what time of the year I hit those places. I am also going to Hawaii and Honolulu as well, more likely on the way back to Australia.

Just brought it up because I didn't know if you were going to drive all these places or fly.

Park City to Grand Canyon is about 524 Miles / 843 Km.

This all sounds so f*****g expensive. 8O

But Miami is full of Cubans, seeing how close it is... and a lot of them don't speak English.
I just wouldn't go if I were you.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer but I just want to make sure you know how much it'll hurt the wallet.

Oh true. So, I just visit there for a couple of days to 'experience' the lifestyle. I.e. Bucket list!

Just curious about the traffic in regional areas. Is it really heavy out in regional areas in between cities and that?

Okay, but you probably won't have the best time there... :?

I know that D.C. traffic and Atlanta traffic are both more hellish than other places; I think a lot of the bigger cities out West are that way, too. I don't know for sure, though.

I know from experience that LA, New York, anywhere in New Jersey, and Austin have really congested traffic (although I would recommend seeing them all).
