I have seen quite a few comments from people saying thery're interested in baking and since I like to sometimes aswell I thought I would make a thread especially for baking breads, cakes etc.
I was hoping to have made something to start the thread but I haven't yet, hopefully I will be trying a new muffin recipe in the next few days though...
So post any thoughts, good/bad baking recipes, etc here. Photos would be good too if you can. :)

I cam make a really good apple pie, and it is actually pretty simple.

-Put half a stick of butter (cut up into chunks) on the pan.
-Fill the pan with the apple slices, i like to use an apple slicer, cut them into 1/8th (apples have to be peeled first). The rounded sides down.
-sprinkle half cup of sugar over them, cinnamon optional
-watch for about 45 minutes until syrup is golden prodding the apples occasionally
-Poor into pie breading (which is bought at the store, making dough is freaking annoying)
-cook in stover for a half hour

It takes a while, but is simple and tastes really good

Hardly, I tend to read loads of recipes, then find out what aspect each ingredient effects then add/subtract stuff until I get it how I like.

As for not weighing stuff I just have a good eye for it, im good at them "guess the weight of this jar" things too.

I'll be super good at some point tho practice makes perfect ^_^

Anyone have any good bread recipes, using bog standard bread flour ??

I do a lot of scratch baking and so does my oldest daughter. I can post tons of recipes, but deciding which to post is the hardest part.

Breads, pies, cakes, icings, cobblers, etc.

Pizza dough is very forgiving as long as you have a good supply of yeast and sugar on hand. I like to let mine breathe at least 24 hours. I get raisin bread from my basic dough by doubling the sugar and adding a stick of butter along with the raisins and cinnamon

I wanna make CaPieKie, a cookie inside a pie inside a cake. It can be Thanksgiving dessert after TurDucKen.

I only know how to make chocolate cake, yum yum yum.

I tried one of those packet ones but it didn't go too well.
I made these mint choc chip muffins today. I thought they were going to be a bit of a disaster as I accidently put in 2 tsp of bicarb instead of 1/2 although I tried to scoop some out. They rose more than I thought they were going to though so they look a bit funny, but I tried a bit of one and they seem to taste ok!

Oh no, these might go the same way then lol. They have some baking powder in them aswell which I presume makes them rise but I'm not sure what bicarb does, maybe that's for rising aswell. :?
I hope you take some pictures next time :P

I baked pesto bread rolls and Horlicks cookies today! It was my first time baking bread so I got the rolls a bit wrong, I under-kneaded it so the rolls ended up a bit stodgy and pastry-like. They tasted nice but you have to be pretty hungry to eat them! They are filling.

The cookies are also a first for me and are a bit on the tatty side due to half the batch getting stuck to the paper, I had to dig it off and stick some back together. I tested some earlier and they taste beautiful if I do say so myself. Me, rabbit and my family are eating them tonight with "Cioccolata Calda"/Italian hot chocolate. Also made by me, it will be impossible to make a pig's ear out of that because it's thick chocolate gloopy goodness and that's wondrous no matter how much of an amateur the chef is.

Image I'm rather enjoying this new food based hobby of mine.

Baking powder is basically bicarb with some other stuff added (I think)
