Some of these could be useful! I'm not fond of their title to this article, but nonetheless...

I'm going to read this list to my friends the next time they come over, for entertainment and so the three of us can learn something useful from it. Thanks for sharing it. :)

I'm grazing through this list but driving stick? Really? Unless you plan on getting a jeep or some heavy vehicle or something that's kind of pushing it. Its nice to know probably but I'd hardly call driving manual an essential skill anymore.

I would easily cut out 20 or so of these things if this were an absolute essential list, I hate seeing vital things mentioned like reading a map, using a compass being mentioned alongside how to cancel a date without making promises , find it a tad insulting. Yes, a lot of these are very important to survival but a good chunk of the stuff mentioned is social s**t, which is nice but I think it should be taken to another list.

Yes, agreed. That is why I was a bit more specific and said *some of these*. Many are important only according to NTs.

Driving a stick isn't essential, I agree, but I was forced to learn many years ago and I must say that it has been very very handy. Matter of fact, it made learning to drive a motorcycle a lot easier for me since I already knew the foundation of standard transmissions. But, no not everyone would be interested in manual transmissions or motorcycles.

Definitely learning how to change a tire. When you purchase a vehicle, you need to read the owner's manual about where and how the spare is stored. Some autos are overly complicated when it comes to getting the spare out and mounted.

Don't think you need to know this?
Stop and think about how stranded you might end up otherwise.
(I say this from experience.)

I can do most of those already. Just need to nail flirting and parallel parking.
