Does anyone else here grow veggies?

I've got a few coming on nicely at the moment if I can keep the bleedin slugs at bay.

Courgettes - (useless veg, hope the slugs get em)

Canoe pea (toss up between mangetout and peas, but it just wouldn't be summer without munching on peas straight from the garden!)

A load of herbs and strawberries in containers

I'm just growing tomatoes right now. Did you know that cigarette butts are good for growing tomatoes?

Yeah, I just got my garden planted. Here's what I've got:

Tomatoes - Don't recall all the varieties I got this year, but they're mostly heirloom.
Peppers - Jalapenos, serranos, and bells. I would've grown more varieties, but I've still got lots of preserved peppers from last year (dried, frozen, and pickled).
Basil - Sweet, boxwood, Thai, and Greek.
Thyme - German and lemon
Parsley - Flat leaf and some curly that came back from last year.
Lemon balm
Lemon verbena
Dill
Oregano
Squash - Butternut and Spaghetti
Rosemary
Cilantro

Once summer is over I'll be planting crucifers and other green leafy vegetables that prefer cooler temperatures.

I didn't know that, good thing I smoke but bad thing I've given up on toms.

Do they grow ok outside up in Canada or are you growing in a greenhouse?

I've never heard of lemon verbena, what do you use it for and why 4 different basils do you do a lot of Italian cooking?

My mom grows her own red chili peppers, as well as beats and spices. We used to grow corn, beans, and zucchini back when we had five acres.

cavalo nero
rocket

strawberries
redcurrants
green beans
purple beans
various herbs
fennel everywhere

probably others too, I forget.

I'd never heard of it either, but it tastes like lemony fruity pebbles cereal, so I got it. I figure I'll use it for desserts. And yeah, I do like cooking Italian a lot. I make pasta dough at least once a week. I mainly like growing several varieties for making pesto. I find that using several types of basil in the pesto makes for a much tastier pesto. Also, whole boxwood leaves are great for garnishing pasta or anything else. It's a dense bush with lots of tiny leaves and a taste similar to sweet basil. The Greek basil is kind of spicy (not as spicy as cinnamon basil, though) and the Thai basil has an anise like flavor and I mainly use it for asian dishes, but I add a little to my pesto as well.

Oh, how I miss having a yard! Luckily, I live in an area where locally-grown produce is affordable and plentiful, but still.

My parents keep a vegetable garden in our backyard every summer. We grow a special type of lettuce, tomatoes, chili peppers, mint, basil, and nara grass.

Yes, they grow fine here. I started off by planting them in a big pot indoors and I'll put them outside soon.

I also have strawberry and raspberry bushes outside in my backyard.
