This sounds silly but it is a serious question. Grown ups make hula hoops in bigger sizes than the children's toy, and weight them with sand. Then it is possible to hula hoop with them for fun and exercise 
so, I just got a home made hula hoop that is made out of plastic tubing that I think is filled with sand. But it was made with plain duct tape, so the first thing I did is decorate it with Gorilla tape and some pink zebra stripe duct tape and pink Hello Kitty duct tape from target.
It is super pretty now, and my friend's four year old was so excited about it that he used some of my tape to decorate a regular kid sized hoop. I thought that was really cute!
So I was just wondering if anyone else enjoyed this activity, what kind of hoops you use or have made, or anything like that.

I hula hooped a lot when I was a kid. I used to gamble change I found on the ground with neighborhood kids to see how long I could hula hoop. I could go on for hours.
