My most interesting neighbor was a young woman. Occasionally, she had a man with her who looked like someone from "The Sopranos". I don't think he was her father; she pretty much ignored him. His behavior was like a body guard. When I would walk past them, there was the obligatory "hello". He would kind of glare like sending the message there will be talk beyond hello. She was not afraid of him and seemed comfortable. So, I ruled out that she was held against her will. Once in a while a limo would pick her up (I'm guessing she went out of town). I live in an apartment complex and there are never limos there.

What was/is your most interesting neighbor(s) like?

Years and years ago, I had a neighbor that I was friendly with; and, it's nice to have someone like that----someone who's not an "all-the-way friend" (meaning, they're not gonna be knockin' on your door every five minutes; but, someone you feel comfortable around); but, I know I could've called-on him if I had of gotten sick, or hurt myself, or something like that. He included me in a couple of things with his wife and son; and, we used to talk to each other through the floor, sometimes----not ALOT of talking----just, like, when he wanted me to come-down and look at / fix what was wrong with his computer.

I miss those days.....

My most recent neighbors were a small family. They moved recently and I felt I was lucky to have them next door. They were really nice. Now the apartment next to me is a void.

A hippy commune.

The house had six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a huge kitchen. As many as 12 adults lived there at any time, along with as many as a half-dozen kids. It was on farmland that the owners rented out to truck farmers and a neighboring farmer.

Every summer, there would be a bonfire. There would be food, alcohol, and live acoustic music. Sometimes, there would be weed. Everything was peaceful for about ten years, until the owner died and bequeathed the property to a nephew, who then sold it to a developer. Now there are a hundred or so multi-family units filled with MBA types where there was once a friendly community of a dozen or so caring individuals.

And they call it "Progress ..."
