Cool topic. I love movies but don't go to the cinema much anymore because there's just so much that often irritates me about it. Actually I very much like some of the "rituals" of cinema (especially that moment when the light goes dim and everyone's attention shifts to the screen, there's a peacefulness to this "fading away" of the outside world) but yeah, I think I too would just need a cinema to myself, without all those other people.
Some of the responses in this thread had me impressed with how much some of you can take until you get irritated! For me, people who talk at all during a movie drive me nuts. Kids running around? I'd go berserk.
I'd add that people who have a cold, and cough every 2 minutes, MAYBE should not be at a cinema where other people (1) can't get away from their germs and (2) are trying to focus.

beacuse of the bombardment of my senses, so I just cannot say anything.
Yes!! Same here. I try to avoid going to the cinema with people who think that cinema + hanging out with drinks afterwards and talking is a good combination. It just doesn't work very well for me.
(When with other [NT] people, I also avoid certain types of movies. I'm generally too scared in horror movies; and detective movies frequently make me feel stupid because I'm not very good at figuring out the intentions and all the hidden "strategic" stuff that goes unsaid. This is when any attempt at talking afterwards gets even more painful/embarrassing, when it turns out the stuff I'm confused about is clear to everyone around me.
