For me, it was when I was a student midwife, seeing the birth of a new life.

It's shocking, overwhelming, and utterly amazing.

The most wonderful thing that I've witnessed was an Olympic curling match that I went to.

My mother divorcing my dad in court. She never looked so fierce in her life, until that moment. :)

Very few things are more wonderful than ascending into the upper layers of the atmosphere at 250+ km/h.

1 My soul seperating from my body during an out of body experience I had. I felt a sense of joy unlike anything I've ever felt.
2. Somebody stand up for a very meek nerdy kid in our school who was constantly beaten up and picked on. The way he defended him was heart warming

I saw my first daughter's birth. I did not find it wonderful. Being a guy, I found it horrifying and traumatizing.

The most wonderful thing I've ever seen was the same newborn daughter being handed to her adopting parents in a nearby room.

Well the most obvious thing for me is probably seeing some paintings in the flesh, so to speak as opposed to in books, online. It can be quite awe inspiring I have found. I see a lot of other posts relate to humanity, although I guess that does indirectly..........but I am thinking more on it, there's probably many things........... :chin:

I can't think of anything. Nothing is standing out from my memory. Sometimes when I just look around me I get a serious numinous shock from the simple existence of the world, mind.

There are so many, and most of them are tiny... I can't possibly choose just one so here's six in no particular order.

1. One of my (then) very young nephews, showing me how good he was at reading out loud. It brought tears to my eyes because he was so sweet and innocent, and he wanted to show me.
2. Clearly seeing the rings and moons of Saturn through my telescope for the first time and thinking of space, time and Galileo Galilei.
3. Page-turning for the organist up in the organ loft of a large cathedral organ in full, stone-shaking voice.
4. Colour.
5. Being very close to any large and ancient tree.
6. The unconditional love of a dog, with ears flapping and a face lit with joy, as she bounds across a field to greet me.

Unfortunately it loses it's appeal after one too many flights. :(

But descending into Sea-Tac is beautiful. The first time I'd returned in like 5 years was utterly amazing.
