I just got my hair cut today, and when I came into work, everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, noticed. They all said they really liked it, but so many people have commented that I'm actually starting to think there's something weird or funny about it, and there's some joke I'm not getting!

people generally say they like something if they notice that it's different. although some people will generally like something. it's usually easy to tell based on their facial expression.
Actually, if they're the one to bring it up, they probably do genuinely like it.

Hehe, thanks guys... cool, I thought maybe there was some joke, but maybe it is normal, and maybe people do just say nice things, once in a while.
I guess after 27.9890410958904109589041095890411 years of people snickering about you and you can tell they're snickering but you don't know why, you can get a little paranoid...

The response is due to the difference. I like it because it fits you and I like bobs.
When I lived in Indiana, I let my hair grow long (shoulder length and very thick). I was used to no one ever noticing me, even though I frequented the same places for a couple of years. I got my hair cut off. (drastic) I went into Starbucks and one of the "baristas" (that had seen me and ignored me before) asked if I was a student in town. I was 34 at the time.
