Yes.
Ask me question and I can tell you about superheat and sub cooling. Saturated condensing temperatures, evaporator oil logging, etc. How acids develop in the circuits of a refrigeration system.

I love this stuff and have much experience working with it.

I enjoy doing research on the history of such devices.

I generally know how they work and can fix the ones that are in automobiles. The thing I find interesting is that they seem to work on a reverse of the Rankin Cycle (piston driven steam engine). Instead of heat building pressure though, pressure builds heat, which is then eliminated with the condenser and super-cooled using Bernoulli's Principle (with the expansion valve), cooling the working fluid and thus the air passing over the evaporator core. Strangely, I was actually thinking about this the other day while I was driving at work.

I have an interest in them because I live in such a hot climate. It's impossible to live without ac here. It's a part of daily life.

i'm interested in alternate technologies that don't need chlorofluorocarbons. i'm also interested in passive technologies such as wind towers and heat chimneys.

I retrofitted in Nu -22 or R417a in my home split AC system in place of r-22. Of course they all have fluorine( alternative refrigerants) - still a cloud warmer but without the 'hole'.
My motive was entirely experimental as I do have a 30lb cylinder of 22, but I wanted to try this blend ($ 350/25 lbs); and with an added thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). My system leaked so I gave this a try. Lots of technical details, but I will stop here unless anyone wants to know.

so i'm guessing that you are a professional HVAC engineer?
