Everybody cares for his face. But how much time you spend on you face? Of course women spend more time and money. But also men care. They choose haircuts, beards. They make grimaces, look themselves in the mirror, they touch their nose, forhead, ears, sometimes inadvertendly, but sometimes to express something. To create a unisex thread here will be difficult. But we try.
In the recent months I have thought much about the “enfacement” of Man (so called Homo sapiens). What do I mean? Well, given than I think that the difference between Man and other animals is for me not a superior quality in the realm of the living, but some peculiarity, some specialization: we have good computing capacities, as other animals have superior olphactory systems, and elephant have trunks, whales have sonars and bats have radars. We have big brains and…faces. We rely on faces to communicate as no other animal do.
As for me I meet few people and communicate little, so I also use little my face (and my voice). I avoid looking myself in the mirror except for shaving or taking care of my teeths. But the others?

Some animals other than humans communicate with their faces: I'm not sure about those in the wild, but domesticated animals like dogs and cats certainly do.

The face is an important part of communication between many living things. And it isn't just mankind or other domesticated animals, either; just look at a wolf when it's angry or threatened. The face communicates emotion and intent in all animals, though humans have (by far) the most control and understanding of these things.

That being said, the way one's face looks is one of the biggest social standards in the human race. The way someone's face looks can make all the difference when attracting a mate; why else would women wear makeup? I know that I, personally, would be unable to remain with a woman if her face was not at least somewhat attractive. Not saying she should be perfect, or she should wear makeup a lot (I don't really like makeup), but she needs to be generally attractive to strike my fancy. And the face is always the first thing men see, despite what some might tell you.

Being an aspie, I wear no makeup.

Other than that, I try to stay clean and floss my teeth. I don't pay attention to my face other than basic hygeine though. I have never had problems with acne, so I haven't had to. I'll never wear makeup though. I don't like the way it feels on my skin and I feel like I look like a prostitute if I put any on.

Yes, dogs, cats, wolves… Some apes are nearly like men. But the concentration of expressions in a human face is something unmatched. And for me is passionating. I would spend many many minutes to look and admire some human faces, saying with their eyes, smiles, facial gestures (nodding approvingly, or averting the gaze). There is the expression “losing the face” (a dog can quit with his tail between his/her hindlegs. But it’s not the same thing). Some people in the far East may take their life for having “lost their face”. And than there is the make up, cosmetics, lipsticks, incredible moustaches and beards, ornaments. Much of the sexual attraction and gender advertisement is tranferred to the face from other parts of the body.

I'm an aspie and I wear makeup

I admit, I hardly ever brush my teeth, but I've had no serious dental problems, except my teeth are slightly yellower than normal.

One could compare humans' intricate ways of visually communicating to the wide range of plumage/feathers/colors/patterns that birds use to stand out/differentiate/compete.
I make facial expressions & talk w/ varied inflection even when all alone, in reaction to my environment or thoughts. I get high score on those tests of "read the feeling in the eyes in this photo". IRL I'm too anxious & people are in motion, so it doesn't work for me under those conditions. I don't know what a face is saying to me nonverbally, only whether that face (and/or voice) makes me uncomfortable (have trouble figuring out reason more specifically).
