Ima going to itlay at the end of October. I will be seeing Pompeii, the tower of pizza, Vatican City and Roman coliseum. Oddly I know not much about these places but I know they have great stories about their pasts..can anyone give me some good books to read about them?

Make sure you ask for the Tower of Pisa, or you might get a really delicious dinner instead of directions. :)

Give me a few minutes. I love Pompeii but I need to look up the titles of the books I have.

ETA: I don't know if all of these are the books I have (I think at least one might be.) My books have been in storage for more than a decade (long story.) I got my own Pompeii books at the Getty gift shop, so I can't look up my online order history or anything. They were nice hardbacks with really great photos and interesting text.

The books were very similar to these and these would be ones I would buy if it were me. They are at a major online book seller.

Pompeii: The History, Life and Art of the Buried City by Marisa Ranieri Panetta

The Fires of Vesuvius: Pompeii Lost and Found by Mary Beard

Bodies from the Ash: Life and Death in Pompeii by James M. Deem
