I noticed the other day that we have a morning glory vine growing up onto the deck railing out back. They are very pretty, lots of medium size blue flowers out there, only open in the morning. I couldn't sleep tonight and so I'm going to make it a point to check on that vine as the sun starts coming up and see if I can watch them open. If I can see it, and it doesn't take hours, I'll film it tomorrow morning and post it.

I'm excited now. I'm gonna watch flowers bloom.

The seeds have psychedelic properties.

It takes 15 to 30 minutes to open I have them and moon flowers that open at night which works for me while in not sleeping. And yes puddingmouse is correct they make a delight full tea. Image

You could make tea with the moon flowers as well, don't know that it would delightful though.

I love morning glories! We used to grow many of them at once so that we had a big patch of fence covered in those vines and flowers. I like the blue ones.

Heavenly blue and Flying saucers are the psychotropic ones, the Japanese varieties are not.It takes ALOT of seeds, they must be ground very fine and they will also cause nausea,The seeds from the store are treated to keep people from ingesting. The scientific name is Ipomoea violacea.
The seeds were used by Aztec priests along with tobacco, live poisonous insects, ashes from dead poisonous insects to make a body rub that would make the human sacrifices fearless.the seed was known as Tliltlilzen, the Nahuatl word for black, the suffix indicating it was sacred and revered. It is still used today by Mazatec healers to give information about illness and lost objects.
The active ingredients are d-lysergic and d-isolysergic acid amines, lysergic, chanoclavine, elymoclavine, and ergonovine.
D-lysergic acid amide is the principal alkaloid.
WARNING
Do not take if you have history of hepatitis or other liver problems,do NOT use when pregnant as ergonovine causes uterine contractions and can cause a fetus to abort.
Also, don't take just for a hoot, taken traditionally for spiritual knowledge and growth.Find a shaman.
