visiting forums that are unrelated/not applicable

do you ever visit other forums, where the subject matter is not applicable to your life in any way?

today i stumbled upon a forum where people were talking about their experiences leaving a charismatic religion, and i actually sat and read their posts for about 30 minutes before i realised that my activity wasn't even slightly productive.

Yes, for example I really very like and often frequent some boards related to raising children.

Not typically, I visit forums because there is a reason for it.

I will sometimes go to childfree boards and incontinent boards. I do it because I want to see what incontinent people go through and what they say about their condition. I go to childfree boards because of the drama due to their rants about parents and kids. But think the rest are calmer than the bratfree one. I have even gone to the blogs too.

I frequent forums about society's discussions all over the globe on current events, trends, questions, answers, rants, reviews, ect all in one... So the variety of topics that come up can be just about anything which makes it interesting. Some of it is applicable to my wonders of the world, and a lot of it I don't care about at all.

There was one time where I spent a little time on a "Chubby Chasers or Morbidly Obese Fat Guy Enthusiasts Forum" for about an hour. It was fascinating to learn about the chubby chasers and fat guys, but I was also really grossed out, seeing all of the pics that these super fat dudes would post of themselves mostly of their massive belly (All that could fit in the shot ), and posts of chubby chasers aweing at the insanely fat guy eye candy, and cheering on said fat dudes to get even fatter. I heard about it in a online news video, so I was curious.

I assume you mean "other forums" as different websites about other subjects , not just sub forum topics within WP ?

If so, then yes, I frequently visit & post regular contributions on 2 other forums on the subject of modelling railways.

I'm also a member of a well known urbex forum based in the UK , but its not often I post on that though, as its hard to get one-self an established respected/trusted reputation due to the subects of urbex forums.

I think this site is about the only non-programming/computer only related forum I actually visit.
Though sometimes I'll visit certain sections of them and just read stuff for no reason

There are times that I go to news forums, just to see what's going on in the world. I also visit forums for teen girls, just to try and see things from their point of view.

I like to go to some illnesses related boards as well.

WP is the only forum I use now but I have read stuff on women forums before. I''m kind of overly sensitive & curious; having a better understanding of women things helps me be more empathetic/sympathetic to my girlfriend with things

I've gone to white supremacy, KKK and nazi boards in the past out of pure curiosity and I wanted to know how these people talked and interacted with each other. I didn't talk or sign up for anything, I just read some of their comments. It was amusing to see how uneducated these people are. I didn't dwell on it or stay for long though.

Oh yeah, I've gone to 4chan before because I heard a lot of stuff about that website so I was curious and I read some of the posts. It didn't interest me one bit.

My curiosity always comes out of nowhere at random times.

I was unaware that they knew how to use computers... That would be interesting though, to see whether or not they treated each other with respect or the same hatred and contempt that they direct towards other races.

The thing that upset me the most was how a lot of these people were raising their children to be racist. There was even this music duo of little twin girls that are "famous" in their little clan singing about white supremacy, it was pretty disturbing.

That is disturbing. It's so tragic when tradition gets in the way of progress. New generations need to figure out for themselves how they judge and relate to the world around them instead of being forced into archaic and hate-filled ways of thinking. I'm so glad my parents didn't force anything on me and I was allowed to determine my beliefs on my own despite being brought to church by my mother and shown her beliefs.

it's interesting to see i'm not the only person that has done this! i wonder if it gives us a little window into other people's worlds?

back when i started a blog in 2007 or something, i used to click something that allowed me to go to a random blog. so i'd just go to one random blog after another, seeing snapshots of people's lives.

I used to do that often on the website Open Diary. I don't know if it still lets you do that but I'd do it when I was bored and look for a diary that seemed interesting to read by pressing the random button.
