I had two heroes in the US. One was Walt Kelly who died in 1973. He was so funny that I erupted in laughters while reading his strips alone. He was perhaps associated initialy with the other Walt (Disney) who was also a genius, even if he committed sins in the 50s. Kelly committed no sins and was tremendously witty and entertaining. I still read with relish his strips. Not many perhaps know him here.
The other hero was for me Art Buchwald. He had not such an amusing life as one might think, but he died with a grin, on Thursday, while peparing his own obit, which you can find on the NYT or WP. I only want to remember him, and Walt Kelly with him, who both were capable to laugh at this insane world.
...WHAT?! Are you that gullible as to think there are even a few people who don't have skeletons in their closets?
