There are lot of songs I like but if they are done in a different version, I don't always like the song. Lyrics never have anything to do with how I like the song, it has to do with how it's sang and what instruments are used. It's the version of the song I don't actually like, not the song itself. I like the "Red red wine" song but I don't like the first version of it, the original. I listened to it on youtube and didn't like it and I like the UB40 version better. I am like this about music. so I am sure if I were to say I like a song and then to hear a different version of it and then say I don't like the song, people may find it a contradiction because they don't realize it's the version I don't like.

I feel you. A good example for me is a tune called "Highways of Gold" by Jaguar Love. There is a video and an album version. The album version in my opinion sounds inferior in comparison to the other one. This also applies to edited and explicit songs.
