About 110,000 million tons of carbon dioxide enter the atmosphere each year as the result of burning fossil fuels. Removing this amount of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere requires a forested area the size of Australia.

Until the Middle Ages, passports were given only to the privileged well-to-do. In 1215, the Magna Carta established that "All merchants are to be safe and secure in leaving and entering England." One of the earliest U.S. passports on record was issued in France in 1778. It was signed by Benjamin Franklin, Arthur Lee, and John Adams.

Mushroom trivia

*The ancient Greeks believed that lightning hitting the dirt is how truffles are formed

*People once believe that eating rabbit's brains was a cure for mushroom poisoning.

*There is a mushroom called the "corpse finder" which has been found growing on dead bodies

*There is an orange mushroom called the Jack-o-Lantern which glows in the dark. Also, the mycelia (root systems) of other common mushrooms will also glow; this is called "foxfire"

*The so-called "brain mushroom" (that's what it looks like) produces monomethyl hydrazine, which is a type of rocket fuel

*Siberian tribes recreationally ingested the fly agaric (those red mushrooms with the white spots), the active ingredient of which cannot be broken down by the human body. Therefore, poor people who could not afford to get high would then wait outside the huts with bowls and when the intoxicated people would urinate in them, they would drink the urine.
Also, reindeer would eat these mushrooms and then run wildly through the forest. This may have been the origin of the myth of Santa Claus.

*An estimated 90% of mushroom poisoning deaths are attributed to the Death Cap mushroom, although there are small harmless-looking brown mushrooms called Galerina that contain the same toxin.

The brilliant colors in a hummingbird's feather are created by tiny platelets that resemble a pancake filled with air bubbles. They are called "interference colors," and are much like the shimmering colors seen in a soap bubble or in a drop of oil.

Random fact - I had a dream last night and BazzaMcKenzie was in it. He was playing the drums in a band with Slash from GunsnRoses.

I've got millions but im only gonna write 2

Mexico city is the fastest sinking place in the world and its sinking by almost 2cm in some places because of the population density of the city. So the weight of all the 8,720,916 people living there in such close proximity is making the ground sink

The longest suspension bridge in the world is in Japan its called the Akashi-Kaikyō Bridge and its 6,530 ft long and was used to span the dangerous but heavilly used streach of water know as the Akashi Strait. :P beat that :P just kidding

The reason that modern navies no longer use large battleships is because they tend to be expensive to run, slow, very expensive, and get raped by aircraft, literally. The only capital ships now are Carriers, which have to be escorted by smaller ships.

The Boeing 767 aircraft is a collection of 3.1 million parts from 800 different suppliers around the world: fuselage parts from Japan, center wing section from Southern California, and flaps from Italy.

The Boeing 787 "Dreamliner" has an all-composite fuselage.
