I read people saying that Sinead O'Connor might have AS, based on amongst other things, that she seems to stimm. Then I remembered seeing Glen Gould stimm when playing...and here is that video.

Gould was speculated to have Asperger's by Dr. Timothy Maloney, and separately by Dr. Peter Ostwald (Gould's biographer). Note that he never stops, listen to him just after he finishes playing, he is still going!

Fantastic video.

I really like Glen Gould.

Ever since I first saw him on TV years ago I felt he was a bit like me. (I don't play like that though ~ wish I did)

I think he is the best recent interpreter of Bach and I definitely agree with the theory that he was AS.

Definitely music to stim to. About halfway though I was rocking along with him.
Play his last recording of the "Goldberg Variations", I mean crank up the
volume and listen carefully, you'll hear his humming along to the music.
I have both his 1955 Debut album and his 1981 recording he made before
his untimely stroke and subsequent demise. The mold was broke when they
made him. :P

Here is an interesting article about this topic. I have read biographies, watched his works and interviews....but I wish there was some article or paper that would talk about this very topic and analyse the possibility of Glenn Gould being on the spectrum in detail.

I watched his documentary before about 10 years ago, and he strikes me very much as being an Aspie. There wasn't any support for him in those days.

Yeah, there wasn't. There were people who wanted him to talk to psychiatrists....(not because of AS of course) but he didn't want to and ignored it. He had a brilliant mind.

I recommend everybody interested in this topic watch Glenn Gould's Toronto (here). It's fascinating. It's almost as he was looking at the world from the outside.
