I can drive just fine out on the open road; in fact, I frequently speed, maneuver around, etc., and have little difficulty with it. On the parking lot, on the other hand, I have much more difficulty. I try to park, but I often end up pulling into the space obliquely and have to make several corrections. Parallel parking is a nightmare, despite a medium-sized car and good sight. I have difficulty estimating the finer distances when maneuvering through tight spaces or parking on the curb--though with practice on a particularly shaped curb I can get better.

Does anyone else have this? What exactly is the matter? What can I do to improve it?

Absolutely! I can't reverse with mirrors either, I have to hang my head out of the window.

You sound like me! I even have this problem in parent & child spaces which are bigger. One tip I learned years ago for parking in a space between cars on the roadside which was really good, is that as you reverse in you line up your outside rear corner with the car behind's inside front corner. Once they are lined up you just need to roll back in straightening up. It's magic.

Thanks. Only thing is I don't have to parallel park too often, living in the suburbs, but I do often have to turn left or right into a parking space on a parking lot. I often have difficulty maneuvering in and out of those and despite living where I'd have to park in a tight parking lor, I've never grown acclimated to parking there.

Oh wow, I have this too! Especially with parallel parking. I can't park my car parallel when the parking space is only 1 car big. I need to have 2 free parking spaces in order to do it. No clue why it's so hard.
