Fashion
I like fashion. Not in the sense of "following what the latest trends are," but more in the sense of dressing myself up. I think of it as turning yourself into art, and just sort of being art on parade. I love people who put effort into their appearance - they're just really nice to look at. Of course, fashion isn't always convenient - heaven knows I'm usually too lazy to put more thought into anything other than t-shirt + jeans - but it can be fun.
Let's not talk about whether you're interested in fashion. I want to know what you find aesthetically appealing when it comes to clothes and clothes combinations. Are you a fan of the sheer clothes trend that's dominating now? Do the 50s speak to you, calling you with their poodle skirts and dungarees?
Since this is Wrong Planet and not some random forum, I'd also like to ask those of you with sensory issues (and any other conditions that may interfere with "normal" fashion) how you manage to look fabulous in spite of (or maybe even because of?) your condition.
I'll start.
My fashion taste is dictated by one thing: "Does this outfit look good on me?" If the answer is yes, I'm okay with wearing it. I'm not a "slave" to fashion; I'm vaguely aware of what's popular and what isn't, and if I like it I use it and if I don't, I don't. I like layers, so the recent trend for transparent and sheer clothing is really appealing to me. I'm not a fan of jewelry (possibly because of sensory issues but also mixed in with other issues!), but I've been trying to become accustomed to it because a lot of outfits really just need that extra touch.
I'm all or nothing when it comes to shoes - either I'm wearing Converse sneakers (comfortable nice looking shoes - pretty much what I need) or some crazy high heels. Not a big fan of kitten heels, though I have a few in my closet because you never know! I like accessories, including items not usually considered feminine. I love ties, for instance. The idea of combining men's clothing with women's clothing and basically just making an awesome mess out of it is very appealing to me. Hats are basically a necessity for me. Due to warm weather, I usually don't wear jackets or scarves, much to my chagrin, and knee-high boots are pretty much out of the question.
My make-up is usually simple - foundation if it's a special event, either "heavy" eyeshadow or ruby red lips. Eyeliner and mascara are foreign to me, and don't even ask me about applying blush and bronzer and all that stuff. That's just sorcery!
I'm inspired by hip-hop fashion, but not in the way you're thinking of it. Hip-hop fashion came about because lower-class youths wanted to express themselves but didn't have the luxury of buying Armani suits. They made the best of what they had and BOOM - a trend emerged. I try to make the best out of what I have, giving new life to objects like scarves and shirts. I can be a bit non-traditional when it comes to combining items - I am not afraid to mix patterns if I feel the end result is worth it.
Fashion, in my case, is usually pragmatic to some extent. If it's going to be cold, I'll wear a sweater; I'm not the type of woman who will wear a slinky dress during the middle of January. I want to look good, but I don't want to be uncomfortable. There are certain levels of comfort I am willing to sacrifice - temperature is one of those that I am not good about.
Feel free to discuss your fashion sense, what inspires you, and of course, post your own outfits!
I usually go for a classic or casual look. I love tank tops and tube tops. I prefer tube tops with the empire waist as my upper body is smaller than my lower body. My favourite clothes colours are black, purple, dark pink, red and bright blue. In the summer I love wearing flip flops and for late fall and early spring I'll either wear flats or running shoes depending on what kind of environment I'm in. I like wearing long leather boots when I go to a night club or a bar and I like ugg type boots for the winter.
My basic makeup routine is Bourgeois mousse foundation, Rimmel bronzer, black eyeliner, dark blue eye shadow and usually a creamy coral lip gloss.

When it comes to working, it is always a black suit with a T-shirt underneath, much like the character "House" wears (I've been told this more than I can count) or a suit and tie (for ultra-formal occasions). When I'm among friends or alone in my house, my dress code is far more relaxed (T-shirts or longsleeve shirts, camouflage/military attire, long cargo shorts or other similar attire). My dress revolves around two central concepts: 1) comfort and 2)utility. While I do select clothes I like aesthetically, this takes a back seat to comfort and functionality of the garment (there are plenty of times I need to have several tools handy and clothing with capacious cargo pockets allows me to quickly reach for the tool(s) I need without traversing the workshop and devouring precious time.
I like to wear what I like the feel of from what ever store I can get it at-brands do not matter much even though others might have a problem with me wearng certain things or brands meant for a different age demographic-shirts are shirts and jeans are jeans no matter where they come from and doesnt matter.

I do follow some trends, but I usually just wear whatever I'm comfortable in. Just today, I went to school dressed in sweats.
I enjoy studying fashion from a historical perspective. I like to observe the changes in fashion over the years, decades, and centuries.

I love the unisex Mod fashions of the 60s. I like to wear clothes that are similar to a lot of the things that The Kinks, Mick Avory in particular wore between 1964 and 1967. That's my way of being my best self, and it's fun and enjoyable for me.

Fashion was a special interest of mine for a while. I like A-line shapes and drapey fabrics like silk. I've preferred natural fibers since I was 14. Eileen Fisher is my favorite "moderately priced" line, although I'm on a thrift store budget. I like minimalist shapes and don't like extremely tight things. If I can't tell how it's supposed to go when it's on the hanger, I don't bother with it. I mostly wear skirts well below the knee, dark tops, tights in the winter. I like muted colours--grey, green, periwinkle blue, with black accents. I make my own jewelry, scarves, hats, and fingerless gloves. I am hoping to get a chance to learn to make fingered gloves later this year. I understand how to do it, but I've never actually tried. Now I'm geting off on a tangent about my longest-running special interest, so better shut up now. I don't wear makeup at the moment, because I don't care about what the people at work think and my husband doesn't care. When I used to wear it, my ideal was to wear makeup so it looked like I didn't need to wear makeup.
Oh, here's a funny thing. I live in Alabama and I'm a Crimson Tide fan, but I look horrible in red, so the day after they won the National Championship, I came to work in an LSU purple sweater. Didn't even think about it until I was walking into the building, ![]()

I'm a girl who dresses like a guy. Not because I feel male on inside, but because a lot of clothes that show off my interest are guy's clothes. I mainly wear a baggy band tee with a huge Misfits hoodie. I still wear women's jeans. I like black and lots of it.
I have pixelated heart earrings that I wear and a padlock necklace. I wrap silly bandz around my fingers. I haven't done that in a long time. I should start that again.
Hot Topic is my favorite store.
Sometimes I will wear girl's shirts as long as I can stand them.
Basically picture a girl who dresses like your Emo kid son.
