Have you ever been accused of being “Sneaky”?
My dad used to call me “Sneaky Pete” because I was quiet. He always thought that I was trying to hide something, so when he would catch me moving quietly or sitting quietly off to the side, his first reaction was usually to call attention to me. Then he would tell me to stand in front of everyone and tell him what I was doing. No matter what answer I gave, he would still accuse me of sneaking around. Then he’d yell at me and accuse me of anything he could think of -- spying on him, stealing from him, or planning to set the house on fire. Eventually he would give me another beating.
People at school also thought I was “weird” and “sneaky” because I did not want to draw any attention to myself. Several teachers would behave the same as my father (except for the beatings).
Did any one else go through this?
