Seen these on some forums, figured I'd start one.

it's simple, whatever your first car was, post it, discuss it, etc.

I just picked up my first yesterday, 1999 Civic four door with a five speed. Needs gas and break lines, winter tires, and some bushings and washers for the shifter (works fine but has miles of play in it).

My first car was a beat up 1998 Renault Clio 1.2. It ran ok though. My second was a 1999 dark green Rover 216 16v. For some reason it was cheaper to insure than other comparably quick cars, still really expensive though. I really liked that car. Really fun to drive and looked nice. I wrote it off after about a year, locked up on a damp road and under-steered into a lamppost. I haven't had a car now for several years, I can't afford it.

1973 Plymouth Fury 360.

Rust bucket, slow off the line (HEAVY!) beast. Great car for learning car repairs, 'cause it broke down regularly. Bought it in 1980. Only had about 70,000 miles on it and already almost ready for the bone yard. Thank god they DON'T make them like they used to. What a piece of junk. I really don't miss it.

Mine did NOT look anywhere near this good.Image

The first car I had is actually the one car I've right now. A 2002 Saturn L-series * I think * fairly young compared to others here on the thread.

I'm still driving my first car. A 2007 model Lancer. I didn't get it until I was 24 so I had several years prior to accumulate the money to put towards the purchase. The other half of it was paid with a personal loan. It's an ok car I guess, I like driving it. Though I think it has an odd suspension issue. I was advised by my parents to find something that at least had a bit of power in the engine. This had the best in relativity to other cars the same size (small sedan). It's almost due for it's first new set of tyres (I've only managed to put 50,000km on it in 5 years :P)

I had a Chevy Monza of a late '70s/early '80s vintage. It had odd engine problems and one day it ran away with me in it. I was out on a country road driving around and it suddenly revved waaay up and nothing I did would slow it down. Putting it in park or neutral made it rev even higher and even turning it off did nothing. I managed to drive it (praying to run out of gas) back into town to my uncle's shop, where, as I stood on the brake pedal, a mechanic turned the idle screw back.

I inherited an 86 Reliant wagon for my first wheels. You stepped on the gas, and prayed you would be up to highway speed in the next mile or two. I drove my bf's 77 Grand Am whenever I could get my hands on it. :D

My first car is a used 2006 Chevy Malibu LT. It's ok but I only got it because it was the cheapest used car I could find at $9,000. There are some minor problems with it that annoy me but nothing to really dwell on. For example, the CD player doesn't work. I've owned this car for a little over one year now and when I bought it the mileage was 128,000 km. So over five years the previous owner drove 25-26000 km per year on average. My average is 5,000 km per year.

Anyway, I am saving up to buy a Chevrolet Volt. That's the kind of car I want.

1985 Honda Accord. I bought it at a police auction and it ran like a dream for almost a year and a half. I miss that car.

1985 2 tone blue Chevy Blazer S10 (the small Blazer not the full size one). Got it around 1993. Loved it. I traded it in for the first new car I bought, a Saturn, which had a manual transmission because my partner I bought the car with insisted it be manual. I didn't know how to drive a manual transmission, but I learned. We're still together but the car has moved on. I miss that Blazer. It had a hole in the exhaust by the time I traded it, and it was really really loud.

1979 Mustang hatchback. Blue with white leather interior.

It had a 302 HO and came with a stock automatic trans. I got into pro stock racing about a year later so it didn't stay that way for long.
