I work in an international Montessori preschool/kindergarten full of spoiled rich kids. This week I've been given full control of the theme "Thanksgiving," part of which will involve them each bringing in at least one old toy and, as a field trip on Friday, hand-delivering them to children in a local hospital. They're already excited about getting to help other kids and have all learned the English words "lucky" and "thankful."
Kids are kids and they all have good hearts. These kids are incredibly spoiled by their parents and used to getting everything they want the moment they demand it. But they only know what they're taught, and when we pointed out as an example that many children in Africa don't have enough to eat, they asked if we could send our leftovers from lunch to them.
It's only Monday... I'm gonna spend most of this week all teary-eyed, I can tell already.
