Hello, Zodai here.

To be short - Once when I was about 11 or 13 years old (3-6 years ago), I saw a bright light shining through my window.

The light stayed for about half an hour, and then left.

-It was the middle of the night

-It was much brighter than a full moon

-It was a second story window.

At the time, I was thinking "OMG A UFO" but I was sadly too scared (Because, you know, It's a UFO?) to actually look out the window.

I know it's probably unlikely, but what do you guys think it could have been aside from a UFO?

Possibly a police helicopter with a searchlight, or someplace putting on a laser-light show, but I don't think the light would have stayed static for so long with either of those.

I think it's more fun to believe it was an alien spacecraft! Although I'd wonder, until it drove me mad, what would have happened if I'd opened the curtains and looked out that night...

Lots of people see UFOs (unidentified flying objects). Doesn't mean they are alien spaceships. So, if it was flying and unidentifiable then yep, it was a UFO.

Well, the issue is that I didn't see the object itself - only the light from whatever happened to be emitting it.

Ok - let me rephrase that. Did I see a UFO of unearthly origin?

No, you saw a light.

My guess is it was simply an outdoor halogen light, improperly secured, and it got dislodged and pointed at your window until it got turned off or it slipped back down again.

Another explanation is a vehicle headlight on full-beam - maybe it was misaligned and angled upwards and the vehicle remained parked there for half an hour. There are plenty of vehicles on the road with misaligned headlights.

There are lots of earthly sources for lights, no need to speculate it was something other than that without any other evidence.

Probably not. There is probably a simple terrestrial explanation.

But if you prefer to believe it was aliens, why not? :D None of us knows what could be out there! I like the idea that we aren't alone in the universe.

Maybe you did, I remember when me and a kid at camp thought we saw a UFO one night. It was a red light that moved behind a cloud and didn't come back out. It was probably an airplane, but at the time, it was fun to think that it was a UFO.

That...sounds plausible xD.

At least I would wish to say that; but considering the layout of my house and the way the window was pointed to the backyard, It's a little off...

Anyway, it's certainly a possibility xD.

I think what you saw was a Woopangin Scout ship. They were nosing around in large numbers a few years back. Half an hour in one position is way off protocol however.

P.S. But Ahem... for ther record it was undoubtedly a Air Force weather balloon or atmospheric anomaly caused by sun spot generated participles striking the ionosphere. Nothing to be worried about.

No, but I would LOVE TO! (Just to see it, not to be kidnapped).
