I noticed this thing, I never had much of a problem with it before. So I figured that it was probably because people in my old environment were a lot more self-conscious about letting everyone know their mucus and their noses are parting ways. I am a sort of a person who'll just go to the bathroom, close the door behind me and then try to solve this particular kind of issue.

But since I moved, people in my new city seem to be obsessed with shameless nose-blowing. Anytime, anywhere. Library, in the middle of the class. Tens of times, hundreds of times. Once you spot a blower, he'll just keep reminding you of his presence. I call these people "serial blowers". I once (when I just got here) sat next to a girl in the library. She must have done it around two hundred times, because I sat there trying to count the number for four hours and was hurting all along. It makes me feel like this : 8O

I don't know whether it is due to different mentality (or different noses xD) or whatever the heck it is, but I get so pissed off about it. (The bonus is that they leave their used handkerchiefs lying about on the table in front of them.)
The sound itself makes my brain freeze and makes me want to strangle those people to death or knock them over, just to make them stop. I keep calm on the outside, but on the inside it gets me absolutely boiling.

I keep noticing this, and I was wondering if anyone else has a problem with this?
Or are you a serial blower?
Is this common, or am I the only one who minds? Because when I mention this to people, they just give me a blank stare.

When ever I have to blow my nose, I go into the bathroom. I think it's absolutly disgusting when people blow their noses and shove the snot rag up their shirt sleeve. If they're really wanting to by hygenic they should throw the freaking tissue away and not put it in their pants/coat pocket/purse/hoodie/shirt sleeve.

I hate hate hate it when people take the napkin off their lap and blow their nose in a resturant only to stick it on the table!! !! !!

Sorry for the rant.

Yeah, I totally agree. Rants are always welcome
Also, there are was this occasion when I sat and realized that the person sitting next to me in class decided it's okay to leave their freshly used handkerchief in front of me and play it cool.
And I talk to this person regularly. I didn't even realize she was one of "them".
And it couldn't be anyone else's, if it was 7 in the morning.
Then you read solemn verses with that thing in front of you. And try to keep a straight face.

No wonder there's a flu emergency going on.
Nose blowing doesn't bother me unless they get carried away with it and go on and on and on, but I can't stand nose whistles--even my own nose. I am appalled if my nose starts to whistle when I breathe. :x

Nasal sprays usually cause nose-whistles, it took me a while to get rid of the addiction.

Blowing noses is one of a few sounds that turns me slightly... homicidal. Along with that is the sound of people breathing heavily (especially when they have a stuffy nose and they whistle while they breathe) and the sounds people make while they are eating. I might not appear it on the outside, but yes, my mind promptly stops whatever it was engaged in and begins plotting the demise of the offending party.

I used to have a guy sitting right behind me on the bus chewing gum smacking loudly into my ear.

I seriously wanted to murder that guy.

Arrogant prick.

Yes, I do. I don't like that sort of noises.

I also feel embarrassed for the people who do it. But obviously they don't. To make it worse, I see them put the dirty handkerchief back into the pocket (yuk!) rather than into a rubbish bin. You shouldn't use a handkerchief for this purpose. Use tissue paper. And do it privately.

I also can't stand people clearing their throat too many times, reminding me of the mucus moving. Coughs and sneezes are also problems.

All these noises disrupt my thinking and I can't concentrate on anything till the noise is gone.
