My cat just barfed up white stuff. I know from experience that this can be a sign of kidney failure. I'm feeling really upset about it. We're going to call the vet and see if she needs to be taken in, and I'm terrified they'll say it's too advanced and there's nothing they can do.

Oh no, that's really scary :(

Definitely go to the vet. I hope it's nothing serious.

It could also be that she ate something that she can't digest. Maybe a poisonous plant or something. Good to get the vet to check her out. I hope she's okay.

Hope she's feeling better soon and surely the vet can help. It may have been an isolated incident: cats can and do get an upset stomach quite easily, which could be anything.

I heard cats can sometimes purposely eat some dry leaves etc to induce vomiting to clear its stomach. And its vomit could look whitish because of fine foam. I hope your cat's barf is just that. Still, yeah, I think you need a vet's confirmation that she's fine.

I hope your cat will be alright.
Sometimes ours barfs up things i just think he eats too fast...

The white stuff that came up, it wasn't worms was it?
Was it foamy?
Its probably nothing we have a Picaboy kitty here who likes to eat everything.

My hope that your cat is okay

That's awful! :( A couple of years ago just before Christmas my cat just started throwing up white stuff non-stop even though he wouldn't eat anything, and soon he became very lethargic and dehydrated so I took him to the vet. I was very worried he ate some tinsel or something off my xmas tree but the vet said if he had removing it would be very difficult (and expensive). They put him on IV and kept him for a couple of days, and once he got fluids into his body he started recovering and soon I was able to take him home and he was eating properly. I never knew exactly what was wrong with him. A stomach virus, some kind of infection, or maybe even food poisoning? But he's okay now and that's what really matters. I hope your cat will be okay, too. :) But I just hate how expensive it is to have a pet treated, a lot of people where I live could never afford the vet bill I got at all. :(

Has this occurred in the past? One of my female cats does this all the time (the white stuff is bile mingled with stomach acid and usually results from when the stomach is relatively empty) due to excessive cleaning and eating dust, dirt and other random things on the floor (I swear she has pica). Of course, routine visits to the Vet and discussions of any health and behavior-related issues with your Vet is vital to ensuring your pet/animal companion lives a long, healthy life.
Don't get terribly worried - sometimes changing cat food and cleaning up any foreign matter your cat may attempt to consume can help.

I hope your cat is getting better very soon.
Two of mine were vomiting white foam as well for a while and I changed their food.
The dry-food is now diet-food for sterilized cats from the vet and they do not vomit anymore.
The can-meat is from a better brand as well than before.
They get raw meat and cat-gras from time to time for enzymes.
A study of a population of 900 cats spread over 4 generations has shown that the population of cats only being fed processed food with no content of enzymes (enzymes get destroyed at temperatures from 35°Celsius on meaning that processed food has no content of enzymes) had each following generation a decreasing health and degenerative conditions like cancer, allergies, blindness etc.
The cats being fed a higher amount of non-processed food (raw) had an overall good and over the generations constant health.

Sometimes vomiting is innocuous.....my cat used to vomit from hairballs or indigestion.....turned out to be nothing serious. I hope the same is true for your cat.

Yeah, my cats throw up hairballs sometimes. It's gross, but it's not dangerous. most of the time vomiting is not a problem.

Here's hoping your kitty is okay.
