The Sabian symbols were produced in 1925 by clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler, and they are the most popularly used set of degree symbols today. They are symbolic of the meaning of each degree of the zodiac.

I am quite fascinated by these little 'symbols' they are like little meaning poems; like a textual tarot card. Some examples:

Quote:
15-16 deg Taurus

An Old Teacher Fails To Interest His Pupils In Traditional Knowledge

Quote:
27-28 deg Virgo

A Baldheaded Man Who Has Seized Power

Quote:
17-18 deg Aquarius

A Man's Secret Motives Are Being Publicly Unmasked

I thought it would be a wheeze to illustrate them, but there being 360 of the swine, it would take a lot of time, even as sloppy as my art tends to be.

My friend had the idea of making it a communal project, and I thought it was a great idea!

So basically, pick a symbol and illustrate it in your own style, with materials chosen by yourself, and then post it here. Maybe I'll collate them all on a website, or maybe someone intelligent could do that for us? Who knows. For now, just do a drawing for fun, yeah?

Ok, astrology numpty here. Do the degrees relate to a particular date? For example someone born on the 4th of July would have the 13th-14th degree in Cancer as theirs?

Or is it way more complicated than that, and my brain would implode if I tried to comprehend it?

Yep, sun sign cancer 13-14th degree.

The symbol for the degree of the sun on my birthday is this one

Quote:
26-27 deg Virgo

A Group Of Aristocratic Ladies Meet Ceremonially At A Court's Function

If you go to astro.com and find the free horoscopes part, you can get a whole chart computer drawn which will have the degrees of all the heavenly bodies at the time of your birth.

Whether the Sabian Symbols are actually usefully relevant in an astrological sense is not something I would like to make a statement for or against at this point. They just tickle me.

I just thought, the USA was effectively born on the 4th of July, right?

Annoyance! I did another terrible picture, but being a numpty I did it in a programme that wouldn't let me save it. Grr@me

Anyway it's for

23-24 deg Cancer

A Woman And Two Men Castaways On A Small Island Of The South Seas

Which I think is my doobry as I was born on the 14th of July. Sounds quite tempting doesn't it? Maybe I should turn it into a Personals ad.

The link to the pic is here Press Skip to the End to miss all the boring faffing.

I have a totally different view of "triangle with wings" in my head... I assumed a golden triangle among the clouds with the wings of an angel lol..

The opposite of this
