I don't know how the advertisement system works on the site, but if my memory serves me right (and it doesn't always
) some advertisers pay a click-through amount just for someone clicking on the ads and generating traffic to their site, rather than simply to have ads listed in the first place. If that is the case with the ads here (anyone that knows able to comment on this? Trying to make more money for the site with where I'm going with this, Alex
) then clicking on them once and a while even if you aren't all that interested in what they have to sell would help. Granted, this won't be huge amounts, but even a few cents here and there would be helpful.
If, on the other hand, the ads are simply pay once (or monthly), have your ad cycled through, it wouldn't help the site any.
EDIT: Oh yeah, if it is a click-through thing, don't overdo it. Companies won't be thrilled if they notice several thousand click-throughs in a short period of time. I think they would have some sort of method of preventing it, but better to be safe than sorry. This is again mostly speculation though, I've never advertised on a site nor have I hosted advertisements.
