about a wet, leaky basement with mushrooms

Not looking for advise on how to repair the basement - it's not mine to repair.

Anyway, when it rains an inch or more, the basement gets pretty wet and shortly thereafter, some weird, latex-oozing mushrooms appear on the floor.

I was wondering if I could take one of those chlorine sticks that you put in the filter of a pool and put it just below where the water flows in. Well, not flows, more than drips. The chlorine would gradually erode and mix with the water getting into the basement and cure the fungi problem.

Don't know -- but it would be cool to look the mushrooms up on one of the mushroom identification sites.

That should work. Also, the 'time-release aspect' is good thinking. You might want to spray some bleach or vinegar around too, just to get off to a good start.
