I do have tinnitus, however it is a very high-pitch, and it is constant. It never goes away. The Hum is very low pitch, and I have only heard it rarely on certain nights. Hi found this page, searching for more info on the hum. I heard it almost every day at my house in Florida. Usually while in the house when it quiets down at night or in the morning. Then moved 2 miles away. Still hear it. Today we drove to Asheville, NC. As we settled down and were quiet in the hotel, I became aware of the low pitched hum in the background to me it sounds like a small irrigation pump type engine that doesn't run smoothly.

My speculation is it is a Gov't mind control, low frequency transmission, or?

Wow, the sound in the video is incredibly annoying! I don't think I've heard "The Hum", but I do notice sounds that other people don't notice. I hear humming sounds sometimes, but I can usually trace them to their sources. They are usually electronic.

I hear a slight hum at night, when I'm sleeping.

This hum is heard all over the world. In England it is called Birmingham hum, etc. It is a low pitch hum that sounds like an old diesel engine running idle on variable rpm. It does not help to use earplugs which I take as a sign that it is either inside your head or the sound is so low pitch that it goes through earplug devices. There are countless of therories on what it could be, all from a world wide underground construction site to ufo's and damages inside our ears.
Try searching for "birmingham hum" at google to find more information.

Btw, I suffer severly from this, almost going mad a year ago since I found it impossible to fall asleep. You will probably always hear this hum, you just have to learn to cope with it.

I don't know about 'the Hum", but I did hear a very low pitched hum in a place I lived a few years ago ... It was
a few doors away from a telephone exchange so I did wonder whether that had anything to do with it.

Hums generally really annoy me, whether they are bathroom fans that can't switch off or machinery in a distance... the lower pitched the worse it gets.

That's it - a new special interest has started - going to have to find out what the Taos Hum is

Cant wait to read all the conspiracy theories about it - thanks !

zombie thread time...

Apparently the Canadian government is actually going to use a sizable research grant to try and find the source of "The Hum" heard in Windsor Ontario and the Rouge River area of Detroit.

This is an actual recording of the sound...

To me it sounds like the sympathetic vibration of some very large metal object. I noticed living in Seattle that the I-5 bridge generated a lot really annoying deep strong rumbling the moment the traffic started up in the early morning. In the Windsor case I wonder if there is some kind of big straight underground tunnel or pipeline near the steel mill on Zug Island.

The sound on the first video of the poster above me was so loud that it nearly gave me a heart attack.

^^^^
yeah, the hum and the crickets mixed together. I hate the sound crickets make.

Where I live I don't think it's the same hum from power lines but I hear a humming at night I think from the electronic equipment in my house. That's what I thought the thread would be about.
