Has anyone ever accused you of making a strange noise?

This is so weird...

Every once in a while, my mom will stop what she's doing and tell me to quit making a high-pitched squeal. She says it's coming from my mouth. I would know if I were doing it, because my vocal cords would be moving. In this case, I'm stone-cold silent.

Maybe she's having auditory hallucinations, because I never hear it. There was one time when I think I heard it too, but it was coming from the other side of the house. It was a pretty unusual sound too... kind of musical.

But apparently it's all coming from me. I don't know what's up with that. o_O

I have made noises while preoccupied with other things so that I didn't notice it.

All the time!
I make a low growling sound when something is annoying me. When I was younger, I'd whistle when I exhaled. It drove my mom crazy!

I also used to make random animal sounds. Sometimes I have no idea why and don't even expect it.

When I was much younger I was told to stop "making those silly noises". Of course, being completely unaware of them made that task very difficult. There were some that I was somewhat aware of, but I think it was a form of stimming. I got over it around my early teenage years.

in elementary school I was read the riot act on several occasions, for making faux-flatulent noises by pressing the heel of my hand against the corner of my mouth and blowing, causing the cheek to flap against the palm with a cheerful WPRBLPRBLPRLB! noise.

That IS wierd!

You mustve accidently swallowed a dog whistle.

And your mom must have the hearing range of a dog.

The only explaination I can imagine for how you could be making a 'high pitched squeal' that you yourself can't even hear, but someone else can.

About the only thing I manage to do in response to someone telling me to do something at work is make a deep uhh sound kind of like a zombie, so I'm told. I pretty much can't find words to speak, so the sound is pretty much all I can muster to tell someone I got it so they don't stand there all day saying did you hear me? are you listening? and whatever.

I did alot when I was little while daydreaming I was doing things like I made laser noises when I was thinking about shotting a lazer gun & made vrooming noises while thinking about driving a car. I talked to myself alot too then. I kind of learned to quit all that as I became older & was worried about getting in trouble or bullied

When I was a child I used to have to suck air and make a growling/snoring sound every now and again while awake at the dinner table or what not.

My mom became concerned. She asked my shrink. She reported back that it was because "I never sucked my thumb"- it was kinda a substitute-according to the shrink.

Both my mom and I kinda liked the explanation because it drew attention to the fact that I did not have a gross infantile habit (that messes up your teeth) that other kids have- but a less gross substitute for it. So it was a bit flattering.

But now I think the shrink was full of it. I did it because I used to play war all of the time- running up and down hills with a toy rifle pretending grenades were exploding all around me- and making vocal exploding sounds all of the time. After a while it became a bit addicting- like my throat need that vocal rumbling sound effect to clear itsself (like an itch that needed to be scratched). Not much deeper than that.

medicos call that "chronic catarrh." I have that also. strangely, this was predicted by an astrologer who cast and interpreted my natal horoscope, the very words "chronic catarrh appear in the text!
