Some humans are nice, but humanity in general is spiralling the drain. We're getting weaker, dumber and more destructive, but perhaps worst of all - more apathetic and apologetic about it. We make excuses to fit the gaps in our morality and the morality of others, we detract from intellectual and sound reasoning for ideologies that are easier to understand and accept. Stupidity apparently no longer exists, it is 'a different opinion' (and therefore automatically 'right' at least to the person who made the claim) no matter how inane the rationale. For a hypothetical example: one could claim the world is flat and still not be called out for their idiocy for trying to condemn international travel for fear of people falling off the edge of the world. We live in an age of virtually boundless opportunities for our intelligence to grow and yet we still cling to our old stupid ways as if they were something worth holding on to.
Or perhaps we are not actually slipping faster than we were before, we're just more exposed to the degradation of our species these days.

You must have been reading posts in the PP&R forum, where believing in ghosts, extraterrestrials, alternate realities, psychic abilities, cryptozoologic beasts, "God, Guns & Glory", honest politicians and other fantasies is not only acceptable, but encouraged.

You're right, there's no such thing as 'stupidity' any more. I think it started with a de-emphasis on teaching the "Three R's" and emphasizing the teaching of "self-esteem" to children by giving everyone a trophy whether they one or not (or whether or not they even participated in the game).

[opinion=mine]

Eventually, paedophilia will be just another "alternate lifestyle", and no longer a crime, a sin, or a perversion.

Honestly, I think we humans have always been moronic. Its just more noticeable when so many peoples opinions can be read online.

This.

Humanity has always been this way. Just with the expansion of social media, it's more noticable.
