The contract is changing so they want one less person and my husband had been working there the least so they are laying him off. Friday will be his last day. Thank god he gets Social Security and he will be getting unemployment. He will try and get another part time job through his company. He is very upset about it.

I'm so sorry to hear that. A job loss can be very devastating. I guess all you can do is to be supportive so that he can look for another job in the least stressful way. For me, looking for a job is extremely stressful because I have no interpersonal skills. I hope he will find a better job very soon.

That's a shame. Hopefully he finds a good job to replace that one soon.

That's bad news. I hope you won't have too many struggles until he finds a new one.

Very sorry to hear it. We went through all of that and we are now 99ers. Some will know what that is.

There isn't much comfort in this maybe, but, there are many in this boat right now. :(

Last time we did have lot of struggles my parents had our kid for two months. He wasn't working due to his back and he could barely move and he wasn't getting any better until we didn't have our son anymore. Now this time he is on Social Security so we have some income still including mine.

He is very upset about it all because he is losing his acquaintances. He also found out this is why he got on Social Security and he found out his work knew about this all along and had it planned and then they dropped the bomb on him today.

Luckily things are different now than last time. Different situation. We have been through this off and on and last time it was the worst. We have even been through times when he nearly lost his job several times due to health issues and he always worked hard to stay employed. But my mom thinks he doesn't try hard enough. :( Just typical ignorant BS people have about mental illnesses and health conditions. I haven't told him about what my mother thinks of him or what she has said about him because I don't want to cause friction between them and have him get upset and ruin his relationship with her. There is a difference between what strangers online think of him and his own mother in law.

The good news about all this is if he is still unemployed by July, he can go on the trip with us to Montana. I got some time off for it.

Goody, they extended it to June 1st. Now I wonder if they will change their minds and decide to keep him. We shall wait and see.

That's good but it wouldn't hurt if he kept a lookout for other job leads & maybe searched alittle just incase they don't. Also sometimes the company keeps jerking the person around by telling them their going to be let go soon & then extending it & the cycle keeps repeating which can be really stressful to the person. Defiantly do NOT tell him about what your mother thinks. My mom felt the same way about me when I was working & when I wasn't. WE had lots of arguments/fights & really damaged my self-esteem.
