I was elbowed to the lower part of my back once (around the kidney area)

How come the blow to the back did not leave me wheelchair bound?

For the same reason that if your arm was lightly tapped, it wouldn't break.
It's a question of the force used and whether it stood any chance of causing damage.

I would guess the strong lower back muscles protected your spine.

So far I have been discriminated against in trying to get a job because of my aspergers :(
