My job coach said to me a few days ago "I think your trying to hard to be normal"

In more depth what might she mean by that?

maybe the unspoken word was "too" as in trying TOO hard, at the expense of other equally important things regarding job requirements/tasks.

The best thing would be to ask the person who said it.

But if I had to guess, I would say, the person thinks that you are mimicing what others do socially or trying to make friends when it isn't necessary to.

It's such a vague comment and not very kind either I might add. All in all not very helpful for a job counselor to say that.

Maybe your pushing yourself to do things & act ways that make you come off bad. Like maybe you trying hard to be friendly but doing & saying the wrong things. Or you appear really nervous when trying things. Perhaps she means you should try to be yourself more & work more within your issues instead of pushing yourself to change & improve.
