It has become apparent that every cell in my being is weird!
Weird habits (sleep in baby powder)
Weird walk (fast fast fast because I'm obviously in a marathon)
Weird talk ( fast. Fast fast fast because I don't want u to hear my lisp)
Weird stand( well actually I cant just stand I fidget)
Weird sleeping position, weird ideas, weird allergies, weird annoyances
And weird depth perception in fact I have none.

U c when I tell people that I have no desire to drive they're baffled
To them I guess its the ultimate prospect of 'freedom' IDK. But I've come to know my limitations and directions beats the crap out o' me.- I can't even direct my feet! Literally.

Reasons
Too much signs
The gestures people give on the road( sure I can practice but ...)
Right or left, left or right AAAghhh !
I'm almost blind (I wear very thick glasses) oh boy
My mind is always 80% in an imaginary world, and I don't want to get the two confused,....
I fear getting pulled over for driving too fast or too sLooooow
I think I would have terrible road rage and kill someone-( yikes

Do you like driving is it as bad as I presume it'll be?

for me at least, driving is always a challenge- a challenge to keep paying attention to the road at all times, to traffic signs/signals at all times, to avoid being distracted by the radio or by an insect buzzing around my head or passengers et al. it is even more of a challenge to not let some effing roadhog get my goat and make me see red. driving is not for everybody, that is for sure. btw, welcome to our cool club 8) and also this [Love & Dating] is a weird forum to post about driving [unless you're talking about a different kind of driving].

Did try to learn, but my driving instructor told me to give up! Not because I couldn't but because my reactions were too erratic - this was after I almost got us killed under a lorry by the way, he had to take me for a coffee to calm his nerves poor guy. 8O

I've been driving since I was 16. I really don't like driving anymore since 1) I'm getting older, 2) My eyesight is not the greatest, and 3) gas is too expensive.

I remember driving my late father back from a medical appointment, and a bee got in the car and I saw weaving back and forth in front of oncoming traffic in a sheer fright to avoid getting stung by the little bastard, and my poor dad almost had a heart attack!

this needs to be moved to "general autism" or "adult autism" cuz this has nothing to do with love and dating

@mfs1013: you need to ask a moderator to have a thread moved - it's no use telling the thread...
While we do catch many we inevitably miss some.

I'm like the OP.

I'd add:

Driving is simply too scary.
I'm too indecisive to make quick decisions when I have to do so.

Some people never learn to drive - lifelong New Yorkers for instance. If you have a decent transit system, no need to, if you don't' want to.

Its the unexpected, isn't it? With me it was driving for the first time on a motorway - I was coming up to my test. I decided the roads were safer without me. And my instructor agreed with me! :)

I drive. It scares me every time but I still do it. Public transport is pretty crappy where I live, so I try to see driving as an "adventure" in my otherwise boring life. I was always inspired by "Mad Max" as a kid lol

I don't really care much for driving, either. I do consider learning to drive sometimes, but I fear that I could make a mistake or lose it because of traffic, which I have been encountering a lot of lately. I also don't like making split decisions, especially when it comes to driving.

I do hope you give it another try. there is nothing quite like mobility.

That was filmed near here.

Anyway I didn't start driving until I was 26. I still can't drive a car. My main issue is that I egt way too distracted and can not really focus. I ride motorbikes instead. I have found the fact there is a helmet and that it is like a small extension of my body a lot better then a large car. I also find the vibrations soothing.
