Well, it's a "love-hate" relationship. I love the sweets and good food, I love the giving and receiving ( makes me feel like everyone else for a change), I like FUNNY Christmas songs ( which they never play on the radio so I have to play the CD's), And I enjoy the air of festivity. My yard has plastic candy canes jutting out of it like some sort of demented crop. I like the fact that more people are decorating their cars these days--- it gives me something to see when I'm out and about. I like the colorful lights.
I hate the weight gain associated with Christmas. I hate it that they only play the same 8 or 9 songs over and over and ignore all the rest. I hate shopping even for groceries at Christmas time because even a short trip to get milk takes 45 minutes or longer!! ! I hate the traffic. I hate wrapping the stuff because my gifts always look sh***y no matter how hard I try. I hate trying to juggle my family and my BF's family and everyone else within 24 hours. I hate the lack of sleep. I guess it's a little of both...

I love Christmas. It is the only holiday besides new years that I care about. I don't enjoy spending time with my family but I enjoy the atmosphere of people in general.

I love the food and the decent movies on the TV, and the presents probably make all the hassle worth it.

However.............................

I really hate all the visiting we have to do to other folks places. We had one today where I asked that our visit should be shorter than three hours and we left after nearly six. By this time I was so bored that I just sat there doing Boolean math problems in my head just to pass the time. There's another one coming up on Christmas Day and we were supposed to go on a third trip somewhere on December 26th but I said no.

I guess I'm not a party person.

That I do. I love the freezing weather and festivities. Only thing I dislike, hate even, is getting up when it's cold outside my bed covers. I can stand the cold, but it takes a short bit of time to adjust with only my underpants on. Brrrr.

I know this post is 6 years old but just thought I might add my opinion to the forum,

I hate christmas so much because I hate everything traditional.

I do not believe that it makes any logical sense to celebrate any meaningless any occasions.

I don't believe in conforming to anything that the neurotypical mind has projected onto the world Beliefs, customs and what not.

I greatly dislike all the flashing lights that are too illuminated and bother my visual sensory system.

It makes no sense to chop down a tree stick it inside a house put a bunch of stupid lights and crap on it a leave it until early January.

I also hate the concept of spending time with family especially because my relations are really irritating and don't know anything about my aspie quirks, which bothers me a lot.

I love movies but not christmas movies or ''holiday movies'' like home alone, national lampoons christmas or any other seasonal holiday garbage. Also hate the xmas or religious music around christmas also.

It is also considered to be a time of year for giving and receiving, I dislike that concept because I don't want to give or receive anything with anyone.

some people say oh I love the fabulous food, well you can cook it at any given time of the year there is nothing special about it on the 25th December.

the only people who like christmas are...

Religious people - Who think Jesus was born on the 25th of December which he most likely wasn't, It is more likely that it was
borrowed from paganism which pagans celebrated their god on the 25th of December for years before Christianity adopted it.

Commercialized People - People who aren't religious but love the commercialized version of christmas which is called Xmas which
consists of similar beliefs to the christian way of celebrating christmas but higher emphasis on presents and
that kind of thing

"Traditional People" - People who have a very high orientation for doing things repetitively for no reason.

I don't like Christmas.

It's a pagan festival (Yule/Wintersolstice) hijacked by the Christian church, symbolized by a pagan German character. Nowadays it seems to have nothing whatever to do with Christian values and everything to do with greed and overindulgence.

I don't like getting Christmas presents as they're often stuff I don't want or like, and I can't hide my disappointment, which means I end up getting depressed because I've hurt people's feelings.

I don't like the big Christmas dinner (turkey & trimmings in UK) as I don't eat big meals and I'm vegetarian. I don't like overeating and falling asleep in front of the TV. I hate the fact that people expect more and more expensive presents.

It's like the love has gone out of it, for me.

One thing I like about Christmas is that it's a public holiday and I don't have to go to work. 26th is also a public holiday. So it's even better. Also 1/1 is a day off. So altogether it's a nice relaxing period of time. I don't really care about what people are celebrating as long as it's a day off for me.
