Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I'm heading out later to eat at a church that feeds the homeless on Thanksgiving Day.

Happy Thanksgiving to those of us in the US! And a hello to those of us who aren't, anyways.

Just got back from eating a free Thanksgiving meal at a local restaurant with my landlord. Just my luck. My landlord is an old man with a limited appetite. Me, I can eat quite a bit of food. So what happened? They bring me a plate with kiddy size portions. Just little bitty pieces of dark meat. The plate they bring him is totally overflowing with food including big slices of turkey breast. Probably 3 x more food then I got. I gobbled my little meal down in five minutes. Then I spent the next half hour watching him try to eat all the food they brought him. He ate about 10% of it, and took the rest in a take out box. He will probably not even be able to eat all the leftovers. If I had had his meal I could have probably actually ate it all. Though I would have been pretty filled up.

But it's all good. It's free food, that saves my food budget.

I suppose I should say what I'm thankful for.

I'm thankful for DSHS for diagnosing me with depression and anxiety and making me eligible for Medicaid.

I'm thankful for Medicaid making me eligible for the Housing & Essential Needs Program which pays most of the rent and gives you supplies like tooth paste, TP, etc.

I'm thankful for not being homeless.

I'm thankful for not being a patient in a psych or medical hospital.

I'm thankful to be free from illicit drugs.

You're really lucky, because my Thanksgiving turned out terrible... I felt too sick to eat much of anything.

But anyway, hope that everyone else had a much happier holiday than me...

Happy Thanksgiving!

RedRobin 62 posted a great example; here's mine!

I am thankful for my health, and I am so, SO thankful for having a full-time job with benefits...I could not take care of myself otherwise.

I am thankful for a home, and for pets.

I am thankful for the Internet, there is a whole world there, and the 'real' world is one. That I do not fir into.

I am thankful for having stumbled upon 'Aspergers', and finally understood myself!

I am thankful for having friends and a boyfriend.

I am thankful for my job.

I am thankful for my health and Medicaid.

I should add that I am thankful for Wrong Planet. Although it can't be measured, I'm sure just posting on here has helped me out psychologically these past 18 months.
