North America have Hurricane we European have Orkaans http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_windstorm

Normally this type of meteorological phenomena do not happen in Poland, but in the past few winters it is repeated. I do not know maybe this whole global warming is not bunch of crap as i used to think :D

I was going to go to the library, but will not do this, I prefer not to risk it when the wind blows in gusts up to 33 m / s and can roll over electric poles, besides terribly slippery because there is ice on the roads and sidewalks.

We "only" got the border of the storm, so some bigger trucks that drove with light cargo, got pushed from the streets, but nothing worse. Some older/ill tree fell, but didnt hit anyone. My cats actually love watching storms in the garden. My house is in a long valley, so the wind can only blow in the direction along the valley borders, and bording to my garden area, there are two walls confronting the wind direction, as you typically had in earlier times to border farms. So even when there are storms, its rather windstill in my garden, and the cats sit out there excited, watching the nearbye forest trees getting shaked by the wind. ^^

I heard in England and northern Germany, it should have been pretty heavy.
