Annie Jacobsen's the one who says Roswell was just the Russians, right? I think I watched an interview with her on PBS once where she was talking about her latest book, and she intimated that the Roswell crash was a ploy by Stalin to scare the bejesus out of us, War of the Worlds style, by making a disc-shaped jet and cramming it full of mutilated/altered children and dwarfs before remotely piloting it into the desert and crashing it.
The book's crammed full of errors, and Jacobsen used an "anonymous source" for most of her information, and didn't really do a great job of researching the facts. It's my belief that this was intentional, for she's either a biased skeptic or a paid debunker, but I concede this could be accidental. She didn't interview Corso, who has a verifiable military and intelligence record, because his account of what happened at Roswell shot her theory all to pieces, and being a skeptic, she's not likely to be talking to someone who was likely really there and can call her out.
This feeds into the "show me the proof" loop a lot of UFO/Alien skeptics get into, they won't accept the reality/validity of the UFO phenomenon without proof like a piece of craft or a body, but with many, even if you show them said proof they're going to disbelieve it and claim it's a fake, and that goes for eyewitness testimony too. As I like to say, many would still be die-hard non-believers even if an alien danced naked in front of them or a craft gave them a buzzsaw haircut when it flew over them.....
