Not arrested, but I used to have to drive arrested sailors from the civilian police station to the Navy brig. Almost without exception, they were rude, crude, mouthy, and they used to brag about how they were going to "beat the rap" faster than anyone else.
Then I'd deliver them to the Chief Master-At-Arms, and they'd turn into whining, crying little kids as they were stripped of all their uniforms, dignity and pride. None of them "beat the rap", and those who did not get sent to Leavenworth lost rating, pay, and privilege for their crimes, anyway.
Even after this, many were repeat offenders. I guess that to them, earning a Dishonorable Discharge and spending the rest of their lives with a criminal record were preferable to serving in the military.
