Who is your local boogie man?

Have you ever seen a ghost? The wampus cat? Jersey devil? I love folk lore, faerie lore, and cryptozoology. Who is your local boogieman and have you or a friend ever seen it?

Me personally I have seen ghosts, orbs, and various shadows with indistinct shapes and even once thought I saw some strange skeletal dog, though it ran off before I could get a good look at it, so maybe it was a starved Afghan hound and the strange shadows from a street light. Afghan hounds almost don't look real to begin with.

Without doubt The McChesney haunting. I live about a mile or so away from the location and have visited the graves of the parties involved. No one tends to their graves, which are tucked in a deep corner of the woods, and are slowly being uprooted by two large oak trees. The story goes that on a winters day around 1850 a young slave girl named Maria was seen running terrified from some unseen old hag and sought refuge in the MCchesney house. Over the next few days the house was pelted by stones without coming from a visible source . Maria claimed that she could still see the phantom old woman even though no one else could. Sometime after this Maria was sent away from the farm with the hopes that the strange activity would stop. However, shortly after the activity took a new turn and it was reported that objects were seen to violently move on their own and noises would emanate through the house. It is alleged that during this time one the Mcchesney's child received phantom cuts and later died from them.

Chupacabras turn up on backyard fences from time to time, which is weird since there are no goats for miles around

We had a strange animal photographed in Maryland flashed on TV local news. To me it looked just like a South African aardwolf. But this isnt South Africa. The expert finnally pronounced it a 'fox with mange".

In the mountains of nearby Pennsylvania we had the "Moth Man". A humanlike human sized figure with great wings that flies at night.

Many hundreds alledgedly saw the Moth Man's nocternal landings and takeoffs.

I got hooked on the mystery. Even bought the video of the "Mothman Prophecies", starring Richard Gere, based on the legend.

But I lost interest when I read that the whole thing started from a pair of necking teens at night seeing a "a manlike figure with big wings land on the ruins of the munitions plant in the woods", and that their description sounded just like a description of the appearance and the behavior of a great horned owl (flat faced nocturnal birds that like to inhabit abandoned buildings in the Appalachians). Never did get around to seeing the video.

The only 'bogeymen' around here have all turned out to be homeless people looking for a place to sleep, shoot up, or take a dump.

There used to be a guy when I was a kid, we used to call him Gordon Leatherbollocks.

He wasn't the bogeyman though, he just sprang to mind when I looked at this thread.
