I obsess about certain places via Google Earth maps. For example, I must've spent hours examining the Pyramids of Egypt, because I've never been there and dream about visiting some day. I've also revisited places from my youth, just to see what it looks like today and relive certain memories. I also look at my house and neighborhood a lot. I don't know why.

Have you had any Google Earth obsessions?

i kinda obsess with google streetview... i will never be able to drive so i like going for virtual drives around the town in streetview... a lot of times "replaying" natural chores

Love this program! Not in an obsessed way though... I have mostly checked out big cities I've visited. NYC for example. It's been a while since I used it, must check out the pyramids.

Apparently, Zurich (my home town) has just been rendered in 3-D on Google Earth. I thought about downloading the program, but the terms and conditions stipulate that they can record every move you make and sell the information to someone else, and I'm not that interested.

Google maps are amazing especially the satelite views of places all over the world.

I have looked at Florida and lots of other places including where I live.

I like to look at the underwater ridges, trenches and continental shelves with Google Earth and Mapquest.

I looked at all the places I've been in the world (except Egypt). It's nice to revisit and see old schools, old homes etc...

I recently got excited that New Zealand FINALLY got proper geometry for it's geography. It's a big help when marking locations for my story, which takes place in real-life locations.

I love google earth. I sometimes just wander it randomly looking for someplace interesting. I especially love that wonderful desolation that goes with Western China, in both the extremes of the Tibetan Plateau and the wastelands in Xinjiang (in which is also located the Continental Pole of Inaccessibility). I also love mountains and I like to explore the 3D terrain. The Himalayas are gorgeous (though they still lack high resolution key holes for k2; Denali too ). In some of the valleys you can find high resolution key holes where you can see these tiny little Tibetan villages. I'm also a bit of a local geography buff.

Last time I looked, my house wasn't on there. Come to think of it, none of my courtyard was. I'll have to check it again and see if it's been updated.
